Took my car for its 3K inspection this week and I told them that the gear changes (yes, its an auto) were a bit rough at times when cruising and that it would sometimes boost without any prodding.

Anyways, I picked up the car and they told me it was all fixed as there's been an update done which rectifies this.

Sure enough, as I'm leaving the dealer the car feels alot smoother at low end speed but once I planted it on the freeway, it felt sluggish and the gear changes were sh*thouse. WTF, WTF, WTF....

Has anyone else experienced this???

went to ford dealer the other day for warrenty work (fuel gauge not working) and the first thing they said it needed a reflash, after a bit of arguing they crossed it off the list, BUT when I asked if the new flash caused the car to loose power the answer was "yes, but you may not notice it and if it is not done you may have warranty issues down the track"

So what you are saying is they are dropping the power of the T with the reflash ?

They advertise it as 240 kw so if it dont produce that or close to it, I think that there could be a cause for false advertising on fords part.

Space ace,

I brought this up a week or two ago on the forum.

Its strange but no one believed me that the new update is causing problems.

I don't know how much your car is down but mine now has gone from 310rwkws to 249rwkws.

So far from a little investigating this update cannot be removed.

The answer I keep getting from ford is "your aftermarket computer needs to be retuned" WHAT A LOAD OF HORSE S**T.

Nothing so far has sorted it out.

This car of mine has spent many hours on the dyno trying to get back the kws with no real gain so far.

We have even been looking at buying a second hand factory computer plus body control module and the car keys off a wreck. (One that hasn't been updated yet but to expense but if that's what it takes.)

But the other option that every *beep* and his dog will bring up in a minute is. "BUY FORD EDIT, that will solve it"

I would like someone to prove to me it will!

I've got the car if someone has the gear

Sorry if I sound pissed off at everybody but for the last three weeks the car has been sitting in a dyno workshop with no solution in site.

This is the second car with the same problem the workshop has seen.

From what I have been told say if ford is up to "update 8" you can have your cars computer wiped and reload but what has been explained to me is that even if they only load up to "update 7" the car will not run or their system automatically loads "update 8"

If you can make sense of that paragraph I feel like I have been fed heaps of sh*t and havn't talked to a person that actually gives a sh*t yet.

Any other ideas on solutions please comment.

I recently had my 15k service and they did a reflash with new software. I noticed a slight drop in power. Probably more in how "aggressive" the power came on rather than peak power. (Torque limiting??!)

I took my car in today (10 days later) to get a mag wheel replaced. They took my damaged one and are ordering a new one and will transfer my tyre to it. So all they had to do was remove one wheel, whack the spare on, and keep ahold of the damaged one until a new one came in...then swap the tyre to the new one, call me up and fit it to my car.

What is most interesting about this is when I looked at their service form thing (that the mechanics read to see what is supposed to be done) there was mention of my mag wheel and a second, surprising, totally unrelated item along the lines of:

ECU reflash to smooth out 3000-4000rpm.

No idea why it was there. I had not mentioned anything about it, and assumed the flash I got 10 days ago was the latest. Perhaps a newer version is out and important enough that they do it to your car when it next came in.

Anyone know about this one??!

Beauies, I had the same issue when I was running the piggyback. The reflash completely screwed my car, and yes you have to go back to your tuner for a complete re-tune as many have already done.

The car will be running alot richer and like :spoton: I presume.

Do a search as this has already been discussed at much length about the re-flash causing alot of problems on modded T's, it was disscussed some time back.

Simple thing from now on tell them under no circumstances do you want the car flashed.........

Mine was reflashed last week for the 30K service. No difference to me, it still goes as hard.
