April 15, 200323 yr #1 Let me start by saying that I am delighted with my XR6T in almost all aspects!BUT I AM NOT HAPPY WITH FOMOCO So far it has taken 2 months to sort out my whining diff - NOT GOOD ENOUGH Had one diff replaced, the whine got worse, so now I am just told to wait while Fords sorts out what the problem is. The local Ford Dealer is unable to attempt any repairs without the OK from FOMOCO Slightly off topic, my brakes are starting to shudder slightly 10,500 k's Enough for now, steam all vented - Thanks for listening
April 15, 200323 yr #2 Both of these problems are apparently fairly common in the Turbos. I read a few posts not long ago on the brake shudder thing and I have heard of the whining diff before. Lets hope nothing like that will happen to me!!! (I have only done 1000k's so I'll give it some time) Why are ford taking so long though to fix your problem? Keep me posted...
April 15, 200323 yr #3 Dear Ninka.I have had a few problems as well with warranty items and exposeing my car to the backward service departments so I have a contact address inside Ford that seems to work. The lady is called Katherine Murray and she has access to the technical department that will ring your service department to fix these problems. Her mail address is [email protected] She will make sure your dealer is not playing games with you mate as they must all be sent to the same training course on how to not give customer service.
April 15, 200323 yr #4 My diff is to be replaced and I winged about the brakes. My diff only made noise in first gear(backing off) which didnt wory me so beats me ?
April 16, 200323 yr #5 my car was at Centre Ford yesterday to try a fix for the diff whine. they took the whole back end out then reinstalled to specifications. they were working under instruction from Ford. the idea was that a drive train alignment problem may be causing the diff whine. When I drive it home it was still the same.
April 16, 200323 yr #6 It seems Ford is burying its head in the sand regarding warranty issues. I to have had my car in heaps of times(6 times for replacement rotors!) and the dealer was under instruction from Ford. All that meant was that they measured everything om the car to try and find the problem. The problem is poor rotor material and design, but Ford won't let that get in the way of wasting owners time. If you take your time trying to rectify a problem they hope that the customer will give up. that's the only reason I can think of for the dealer and Fords attitude. The dealers are very poor, think Leyland Australia. We all know what happened to the P76(and that was also car of the year), but after talking to various people at Ford they still have their "blinkers" on. I am a Ford "man" but I've had enough. I will NEVER buy another NEW FORD. My wife wants a new car and I just can't bring myself to go through similar dramas with a Focus, so she'll get the car she really wants; a Expensive Daewoo Astra. Congratulations Ford for ruining what should be a pleasent motoring experience.
April 18, 200323 yr #7 ninka,I know it's frustrating, but I'm confident Ford will sort out the problem. I've told Centre Ford not to replace the diff until they can be sure the new one is not going to be the same. they tell me that FOMCO and BTR are trying to find out what's causing the whine. once they have isolated the cause then they will do something about it. they have a list as long as your arm of XR6T's with a diff whine.cheers, scott
April 18, 200323 yr #8 My diff was already replaced once and it still got a whine (period whine) at 100kph.I will also ask them not to replace it until Fomoco comes up with a suitable solution. My decision to purchase the Primium brakes has been justified many times. I have never had any trouble and it works extreemly well.
June 30, 200323 yr #9 Put me down on the list too. It has just started to whine, generally when there is no load on the motor or when braking. It seems to be getting worse quite quickly!Have done just over 11,000 ks.I'd really like to hear what happens with this from other forum members, as it's a bit of a concern.I also get a sharp abbrasive sound when my RHS rear wheel goes over a bump....I guess these teething problems are to be expected with a new suspension design....
