hey all,

ive been after a video camera for about 6 months, just sumthing budget. under $700 or so. just something to take to a burnout comp/local drags and get some action on film.

WELL in todays K-Mart catalogue they got a Samsung (VP-D305i) Mini digital video camera for $499!!!

looks the sh!t and has a 2.5' screen, 20x optical zoom / 900x Digital zoom, 800k Pixel CCD. Built in digital still camera with 4-1 media card slot.

heres the camera on samsungs site:

http://www.samsung.com/au/products/videoca...=Specifications

basically, will this satisfy my needs of a basic camera to take to the drags or a footy match? I dont wanna buy it if its got SH!T Video quality or anything, so do u techy video guys think this will do?

thanks.

PS- I dunno much about digital video cameras, do they still have the old styled tape inside that u can put into a bigger tape and put in your VCR? or are they only for putting video onto your PC?

I got no idea either, but I did notice a discussion on that camera on whirlpool.

Here is the link: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-repli...fm?t=306392&p=1

If you can't access it, I've saved what's been said so far in a text document.

No. You are referring to a VHS-C tape which can be played on a VHS Video Recorder. With the new cameras, you will have to play from your Video Camera unless it is the type that records to DVD.

....and like Digital "Still" cameras....ignore the value of Digital Zoom. Only Optical Zoom is relevant.
