F6 Report That Is Actually Good

Nudging 4000kms in the Typhoon this week. I really can't say anything bad about the car.

I dragged a manual mkII GT and won yesterday, not easily I might add. I am not sure where the power problems are that the mags are talking about but I really don't feel any lack until your over 5000rpm. And even then just shift up and the car will easily bust the 230-240kmph mark and then some.

One of the scariest things I have ever done is sit in a XR6T at high speed. The F6 sails along with little concern for the aerodynamic wall that literally lifts the front end of the XR6T.

I am defiantly a turbo over V8 person so the sound is superb to me. A light 6 cyl rasp with all the extra noises of an intercooler and turbo. pure bliss! Now it just needs the rpm limiter lifted to 9000rpm and it would be heaven.

The only down side I can think of is the fuel economy is atrocious around town. And it takes a little more than a quick session to find the true performance in this car. 1st-2nd gear change is crap (read: hard and slow)

When I get some time I plan to run it at Heathcote, as the current G-Tech measurements I have, sure do undermine the magazines piss poor times. I will be sure to keep everyone updated.

Here is take 2 guys.

I am now ready to start the ball rolling on our first driving event. This will be a drag day at Heathcote Raceway just near Bendigo in Victoria. I have locked in the date of 9th April 2005.

Cost will be $40 per car and $10 for spectators.

For those who have come to previous heathcote days with other forums its a chance to beter your previous times, and for the newbies its a good fun way to legaly speed and test both your car and your own driving skills. We will be inviting people from the LS1 website to participate as well, so there will be plenty of room for some healthy competition.

We also welcome anyone from interstate who is able to make the trip, as many have done on previous events.

We will be issuing trophies for Fastest Expensive Daewoo 4, 6, and 8, and Ford 4, 6, and 8, and one for the exhibition class (anything that runs a 12 second pass or less).

Apart from those already noted, one of the major ones:-

The Typhoon with a shorter first gear has incredible get up and go, punching through the gears to what surely must be a mid-five second time for the 0-100km/h dash.

First gear isn't shorter. And the rest is just journalistic gobbledeegook ... there is only one gear change to 100kph - hardly what you'd describe as punching through the gears??
