Suffered a some what embarracing defeat last night! :pinch::spit:

I pulled up at the lights beside this 1970 something model VW Kombi van. Seriously you could not have put your hand on the car anywhere without touching at least 3 differnt types of undercoat. It had the scratched white steel rims, the spare tyre mounted on the front round tube bull bar, and 2 little exhaust pipes sticking out the back. I hardly gave it a second look.

The lights went green, he took off a bit quick, I went with him, not really tring to prove anything, then he went again, so I went again, but only to watch this heap disappear off into the distance WTF!! :spit: It wasn't even sort of close!

I'm sure the guys in the Kombi were laughing their :kissmy: off! I'm sure they've done it before too! I don't think there was much in the way of Kombi bits in the back, I assume I was beaten (conviningly) by Porsche.

Bottom line is, heap of  Kombi wasted FORD XR6T.

Don't worry, I got nailed by a 30 year old Mazda 323, old yellow thing with four blokes in it, its arse was dragging on the ground. They yelled at me to give them a run. I didn't think they were serious, I didn't take off hard, but the Mazda did! I went after him, and watched this little yellow turd bounce away in the distance!! With the blokes hanging out laughing at me!

I should have realised what I was getting in to when I pulled up and heard 'blap-blap-blap-blap...' Rotory strikes again! :spoton:

I saw a kombi many years ago except this one was very nicely restored. and went like a cat on carpet too. 993 Porsche 911 turbo engine transplant. I have seen alot of beaters absolutely fly before. Wouldnt it be fun to own one just for kicks?

Simialer story years ago in Newcastle, beat to death datsun 1200 sedan, complete with roof racks and rust, but stuffed in somehow, not too leagaly I might add, was a warmed over 360 chrysler donk with torque flite auto.

it hammered, no brakes or handling, but straight line was wow, it dusted many including me in my yanky V8's.

There's a turbo Datsun Bluebird getting around on the streets of Adelaide that goes pretty quick.

Ahh yes, the old "drag my shed-heap" trick.

You can be sure that no matter what you do, there will always be someone who has spent more time/money on their vehicle to make it go.

A few of you would have seen the fully kitted plumbers van at Heathcote have a run - complete with loaded up roof racks- ran a mid 11 from memory- had a 350 Chev heart :)

How many of you would take him seriously at the lights ;)

There's quite a few very quick WB utes cruising around Darwin, complete with rust, bullbars and undercoat. When you get done, smile and give 'em a wave, they've spent a fair bit of time getting the cr@p box to go that fast.

People who drive cars like that (sleepers) are the complete opposite to the rice boys and they get :w00t2: from me!
