Speaking of the typhoon the test drive I had in that thing is a whole new story in it's self two word's Fcuking awesome!! Given that the times say the GT is faster, how did it feel so inferior? You have to say that you gota love that V8 note! However the power is just not there....The car is just to heavy. (Gt was an auto.) After the test drive jumped back into my Turbo and sh*t what a difference..!Rob... We have been pampered with loads torque in the turbo at low revs which the GT lacks to point. Up high is where a GT will outrun a turbo Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/14550-t-vs-gt/#findComment-197676 Share on other sites

You can really get the pace up qiuckly without getting speeding tickets. With an 8 you could be looking for trouble as you have to give it plenty to get good results. that's the reason I got a Turbo anyway. thebrunks Member 665 Member For: 20y 9m 28d Location: Gold Coast Posted 12/12/04 01:33 AM Share Posted 12/12/04 01:33 AM the reason they put hair dryers on is to give better performance through the rev range, not just up high!Going off what they specify in racing (Going off modified production), X 1.7 fora turbo, compared to NA. The T should kick butt every time, tuning, air flow & fuel supply is where the T is restricted from Ford!I haven't seen a stock xr8, GT-P, DJR 320 go faster than any of my stock T's at Willowbank yet. Last time I was at Willowbank there were a DJR & GT-P racing each other, and they were between .5-1 sec slower than the T!Russ Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/14550-t-vs-gt/#findComment-197708 Share on other sites
mercturbo Member 696 Member For: 22y 1m 20d Location: Geelong Posted 12/12/04 08:10 AM Share Posted 12/12/04 08:10 AM I owned a stock "T" auto for 12 months and now I own stock auto GT (22,500 on the clock) the GT is definately quicker, sounds better, is sexier looking, and the brakes over the stock turbo are heaps better. Both cars have given me no trouble. New boss engines are typically very tight and it took a few months to overhaul the turbo but now there is no contest. I have no figures just opinions from day to day driving and the 3 or 4 squirts I've had against xrt's. Maybe I have a flukey quick GT and had a slug of an xrt. These are my findings make of them what you will, and knowing the forum at the moment, I'm sure plenty will.
