I didn't have to do that to join LS1. I wouldn't bother to do it to join any forum.

I believe it is too restrictive and would stop a lot of good people attempting to join. The bad eggs are quickly sorted as it is now, and for the short time they are here they usually provide us with some entertainment eh? :smilielol::smilielol:

Good luck JB, when I mentioned the validation/registration concept I got shot down by the wanna be admin team. But I think it's a great idea.

me to

for people to be verified they have to be nominated from a verified member who can say that they have been met and puts a face to the nick also can bring more people meeting each other that would normally sit on the side line and not meet anyone might even bring me out

Great thread, I have noticed a decline/change in the forum for the last few months.

I came here to learn/share experiences about a common interest, the BA falcon. I have never actually owned an XR6t, having owned an XR6 and now an XR8 I still feel/felt that I belonged on this forum.

I have been an active member here for a fair while, since Jan03.

I also frequent the "other" forums and this has always been my favorite, I wouldn't like that to change......

What is the answer? I don't really know, but I have seen this happen on other new forums that I have been a member of over the past years, some have gone by the wayside, some have degraded so much that I left, and some cracked down on the new influences/stirrers and turned around the downward spiral.

I dont believe you have to be a t owner to have a input in to this site and if people are not willing to be verifies there is a lot to be desired about them like what are they hiding from arre they a trouble maker ect

Verifieing members may work in your part of the woods.

But how would someone like myself ever be able to get on here when I live a 1000 miles from the nearest city and would not know who to contact ?

yes I own a T and that's why I joined the site it is great to be able to jump on here and catch up on all the new bits and peices. As there are no avenues up this way to see any of the stuff unless in books anyway my 2c worth I think it is a great forum but then again I aint been flamed and I dont give a :spoton: that some one misspells something or dont use punctuation maybe admin could monitor personal attacks and after X amount kick them off for a while if they are keen or sorry they will come back :smilielol:

I agree with Turbo6man in so much that the life of a site ebbs and flows. Of late there has been a bit of ill tempered sniping , but we have been there before and things will usually simmer down after a few days.

There have been a lot of friendships etc generated as a result of the site , cruises etc. As a consequence there is a lot of sledging between these parties, that to other members may be seen as over the top when in fact it is just a bit of harmless fun. :ermm:

There are also some colourful characters that add a lot to the fabric of how the site runs, who would have missed the infamous Geea V Geeseman stoushes ,colour wars , the chip wars to name but a few :spit: we don't want to lose what makes this community unique, as it is all great entertainment.

If someone has a serious issue report the post or better still dont read it.

With a diverse member base there will always be conficting beliefs and points of view, this IMO is healthy as long as it doesn't get too personal.

As with all written words , they can be easily taken out of context as happened with my Donating Members comments where all I was thinking was a user pays system of keeping this place going.I always fear the day that the site dissappears :smilielol: . I believe that the spat is now resolved between Blown BA and myself , yet others want to continue the commentary and express there poits of view. Fine by me

As it is top of mind at present, perhaps it is pertinent and timely to set up a dedicated fundraising function within the moderating group eg like Cruise Control, as I think that Dyno days etc are great ways to raise those much needed funds.

This would require some innovative ideas to maintain interest and cash coming in.

How about the forum sponsors putting up some goodies for a Xmas Super Raffle ??

I am sure APS , Chiptorque etc could scrounge up some chips or other goodies ,

I still believe that people should continue to donate as they see appropriate as individuals and, I do think that these individuals should retain their status for their contributions ,this is not as a slieght against other members :spoton:

There is a large core group of members who have been around for a little while and perhaps we could all take a step back and rethink why it is that we are still here.Personally I think that overall the site is fine as is, so lets not go mad with changes.

This is a colourful and fun place to hang out & learn more about the T than anywhere else. Lets not turn it into the cold , sterile overmoderated places

that exist elsewhere.

that's it from me ..................for now
