31/08/04 11:31 AM31/08/04 11:31 AM #1 According to my dealer the only way to disarm the siren when the battery is disconnected is via the dealers wsd??? computer...most alarms I have seen are either by a key for the siren or ignition key turned on and then disconnect battery..hope my dealer is wrong since everytime you need to disconnect/reconnected the battery will involve 2 trips to the dealers :banghead: Does anyone know the real answer???????
31/08/04 11:50 AM31/08/04 11:50 AM #2 Looks like a cute anti-competitive trick to me."Buy our alarm and you won't be able to take the car to a non-Ford workshop for anything that requires the battery to be disconnected"Maybe I'm becoming paranoid.

01/09/04 01:50 AM01/09/04 01:50 AM #5 XR6_ED, your dealer is telling u a porky. I just fitted my ford alarm on the weekend. (but still need to get the new BEM programmed with the WDS so its not actuallly operational as yet...) But I have the installation manual, and it has the procedure for turning the alarm off. From memory you have to disconnect the battery, reconnect it and turn the key on for two seconds then turn the key off.In any event, I will go home tonight and give you the CORRECT instructions. JUST in case I forget, you can PM me this evening.Ross
01/09/04 04:15 AM01/09/04 04:15 AM #6 Ive got the ford alarm as well and didnt get one bit of info from the dealer,Was I sposed to???If this battrey stuff is true,Ill be spewing...again fordvik
01/09/04 05:33 AM01/09/04 05:33 AM #7 I could have done with this advice last weekend.I wanted to disconnect the battery. Here I am leaning over the engine, disconnects the battery and the alarm goes off. Scared the living $hit out of me.Since I couldn't work out how to turn the alarm off with the battery disconnected, I couldn't do what I wanted. So Ross, if you are going to PM details. Can you let me know what the go is as well?
01/09/04 05:38 AM01/09/04 05:38 AM #8 Hey guys... the details arent given to the end user as they printed on the installation manual only. There is no "User/Owner's Manual" as such.I bought the genuine Ford alarm kit from Coventry's and fitted it myself, that's why I got the instructions. Generally speaking you cant "fully" install the alarm yourself as you need to change the BEM, and if you change the BEM you need to get the BEM programmed using the WDS with the new keys/remotes. This is why the documentation supports only the installer, not the user.Ross
01/09/04 06:58 AM01/09/04 06:58 AM #9 mine sounds very different to all of you guys, if I can not turn the alarm off there is a key in my siren which you have to put a key in and turn it and it turns off.if your asking is this aftermarket, no it is not fitted by ford dealer and it is also using the factory key pad
01/09/04 09:04 AM01/09/04 09:04 AM #10 I think all you need do is put the ignition in the accessories on position.I could be wrong.
