I'm sorry to hear that TBO240. Its not the first time I've heard this happening either. It makes you wonder if Ford can get anything right. :pinch: I'd be interested to know whether its a dodgy hose, hose clamp or the heater core has sprung a leak.

I hope indeed that they replace your carpet if its been soaked in coolant.

Can any Ford mechanics tell us if there's been a notice regarding this problem posted out from Ford, or if they've come across this a few times before?

one of my mates is a ford mechanic and he was telling me that he can get my whole dash out in 45 mins cause he has plenty of practise changing the heater cores which split. they definately know about that prob..

Dang, was to slow with the post.

Thanks Jeff. TBO240 and I were speaking to someone recently who said that Ford allow 4.1 hours to change a heater core.

Yeah, mine is Oct/Nov 02 and mine died ummmm .... while ago, around 45,000klms.

They replaced the underlay, but just dried the carpet and put it back in. Still took a couple of weeks to get the coolant smell out of the car.

Mine died in my ute also at around 3000km - Feb 03 build. Still haven't had it fixed yet - I didn't want them pulling the dash out while it was brand new............ We just cut and shut the heater pipes going into the cabin.
