I so want the XR8 ute right now, prurely for the bulge, the looks and the sound. And the fact it is 9/10ths as fast as the Turbo and only $1000 dearer.

However, eventually I am going to feel the need for speed, and and extra 3psi above 3500rpm should cure the flat accel feeling. And extra 40kw at the top end will make for a more satisfying HSV thrashing!

I feel that the Constant push in the back the T gives is much more exciting to drive than the monaro I was in recently.

I have never been in an XR8 to compare. The torque down low in the makes it a very fun car to drive even at slower speeds where the same G force rush isnt felt in the 8 until you get going at 5000+ rpms.

You say you have never been in an XR8 to campare but then comment on the 'G force rush' as you put it???

Go to your local dealership and book a test drive in an XR8, auto SSS or manual.

Get on a straight bit of road and STOP. count to 3 then put your foot down!

That 'G-Force' kicks in at 3grand EASY! The Turbo and XR8 are both great cars.

Neither is markedly better OR worse than the other.

In my eyes the 8 is the next best thing to a steak and a BJ. But my mate says the same about his Turbo....

I think he was comparing it to the monaro only... and not to the xr8.

I agree with siccar with the xr8 really kicking in at 3000rpm not 5000rpm, and if he is really talking about the monaro not the xr8, ill say he is wrong again, my cousins use to have a SV300 hsv (VX LS1), and it was about the same as the xr8...

Must admit I too will be changing into an 8 next time around...I love my "T" but I miss that engine note. GT will definitely ne on the shopping list next time around.

Gotta give it to you die hard 8 fans, each to their own. Given performance and handling even when stock , I cannot look past the T . Try as I may to put myself in your shoes I could not justify buying a car for for the note over other aspects which to me are more important

Sorry but me could not do it.Mind you it would be a pretty boring place if we were all the same
