June 9, 200422 yr You wouldn't want to get seriously ill or injured in Queensland, with a government survey finding that more than 50,000 adults don't know the emergency telephone number. That's right, a staggering 50,000 people would be better off running for help than picking up the phone to call police, ambulance, or fire.Amazingly, more than half did not even know there was an emergency phone number. (It's triple 000 for those in the same boat.) About that many people again actually knew help was just a phone call away, but had absorbed too much foreign television and could recall only numbers such as 911 or 999.In an effort to reassure those having a little trouble, the Queensland Emergency Services Minister, Chris Cummins, described dialling triple 000 as "a very simple procedure" and noted that children as young as two had managed to get it right.:o
June 9, 200422 yr Oi Ani, Dont tell them the number......I will have to start responding and will lessen my enjoyable drives up the ranges in the Turbo.
June 9, 200422 yr North of the bridge hey Ani? You might as well come a couple of extra K's and be one of the great unworried.that's our biggest problem up in Gods own country, we have an emergency? Its a case of Alfred E Newman.......What me worry? We may not know the emergency number but we would know where the nearest Pub or TAB or Hamburger joint is. Now I ask yer, have we got our ducks in a row or what?
June 9, 200422 yr Or Mack, the reason maybe when the southern states break a nail or stub a toe there onto "000". I think they sometimes realise they dont have a heart and ring to find out where t has gone. :o :o
June 9, 200422 yr I've done a little Geea research and have discovered that once you cross over the Murray river either North or West that intelligence actually drops and the further you go from the Murray the lower it drops. This would explain why Sydneysiders arn't quite as thick as Brisbane residents. Also why Adelaide people arent quite as dim as Perth people. :o I'm continuing my research and will release further details as they come to hand. :o Geea. :o
June 9, 200422 yr I'm continuing my research and will release further details as they come to hand. :o Geea. :o Let me see if I can point you in the right direction. :o Scotty CCC
June 9, 200422 yr You wouldn't want to get seriously ill or injured in Queensland Dear Ann,we fix our own problems up here, we don't need to go running for help every day. Didn't your Mummy teach you that prevention is better than cure :o Scotty CCC
