  1. After the response I got from my last post about have my injectors cleaned and the effect that this might have on fuel ecnomy, I ended up purchasing a new oxygen sensor instead. I'm hoping that replacing this sensor will help to bring my fuel usage figures into line.... What I'm now wondering though; is there anything special that I need to do when fitting the new O2 sensor, or do I simply remove the old oneand connect the new one? just want to aviod the engine going bang if I can help it, so any input would be appreciated....
  2. This is gold!! Cheers falconutebeast. Just what I wanted to read. Might save the $250 on the injector clean and throw it at the o2 sensor instead to see if that helps. Cheers!
  3. Yeah the original $160 injector clean was going to be an on board clean. The companies I've spoken to since say that this is as good as useless. The prices I'm getting now are $220-$300 which includes removing the injectors and cleaning each one individually then checking flow etc before replacing. Still trying to finf out whether or not this will have a great affect on my fuel economy though. This o2 sensor business has me intrigued......
  4. Yeah I thought the economy was a bit off. I know that at 1800kg or so the XR6 was never going to be economical, but when I hear of turbo guys running 250+rwkw and getting 11-12L per 100km it makes me think somethings amiss. whats the deal with reaplcing the o2 sensor falconutebeast? is this something that you can do yourelf, or is it a job for a mechanic? if so, do you know what sort of cost is involved?
  5. During my last service, the mechanic reccomended that I get the injectors cleaned. He commented that they were pretty dirty and then proceeded to ask for an extra $160 (on top of the cost of the service) to do it then and there. I declined, as I figured I'd get it done by a specialist injector cleaning mob but I want to know if anyone else had has this done? If so would you reccomend it? the car is a BA MKI XR6 with 95,000km on the clock. Fuel economy is a lttle worse than I expect (I drive like a gradma and still only get 14.5-15.5L per 100km out of a tank) so I'm wondering if cleaning the injectors will improve things?
  6. I was wondering if anyone knew the difference between the XR6 and XT springs and front sway bar (BA mk I)? I'm assuming the springs in the XR are shorter/stiffer (thus the lowered ride height) but does anyone know by how much? Additionally, is the XR front sway bar more 'heavy duty' (ie does it have a bigger diameter) than the XT item? Reason I ask is I've ripped both items out of my XR and am wondering if dropping them into my mates XT will improve his ride (ie lower the car and stiffen up the front). My local dealer wasn't sure, so any feed back would be appreciated.
  7. I assume you've checked the bottle to see if there is any water/fluid in it? ← Yeah the wash bottle is full. I initially thought it must run dry, but no ammount of topping up seems to get it spraying.
  8. My windscreen washer has decided to stop working. It sounds like the pump/motor/whatever is still functioning as I can hear it when I attempt to spray the windscreen, however the pathetic trickle of water that was spraying out has now reduced to none.... it's been suggested that the washer bottle or lines may have become clogged, which sounds reasonable, but has anyone else experienced this? if so, any suggestions on a remedy (like how to remove washer bottle etc) would be greatly appreciated....
  9. $150 including fitting??!!!?? where about's was this Iconic Bionic? Sounds like a fantasic price compared with what I have had so far (eg $160 supply plus $90 to fit)....
