  1. Yeah thanks I thought this may be the case. Mine has done 92000 hence the shock change. I don't think stock shocks are that good either
  2. Looking at getting some bilstein shocks and King springs fitted. Can anyone tell me if sting height for sl front and ssl rear is the same height as a stock xr6? And what's the ride quality like after doing this?

  4. This smell may have been due to the oil in my transmission being under full.
  5. All right... now I feel a bit embarrassed. On the weekend I put over 1Lt in it. Its now running the best it ever has with no lurch. Sorry GW and sorry guys thanks for your comments. Checking this gearbox by the book is the only way!
  6. Checked it by the book mate.
  7. After getting use to knowing what gear I'm in I think it's just the boost coming on between the box short shifting 2nd to 3rd therr is really not much in it. The box is very responsive and snappy with the gulf and Western oil
  8. I have checked the level of the oil the specific way set out on the forum here?
  9. Hi all, About a month ago I serviced my auto putting a steel pan on with some gulf and Western. I'm noticing some problems mainly when the gear box is cold. The first change into 2nd gear seems to stutter and clunk. Also 2nd to third seems to flare a bit but I feel the car still gaining momentum. The changes seem to be a lot sharper with the new oil and I actually miss the smoothness of the old oil. I have checked the oil again and it was slightly over full. The level should be spot on now but I still have the same symptoms. I don't think this gulf and Western stuff is anywhere near as good as the factory stuff. Can anyone help? Is there an additive or are my clutches stuffed?
  10. I flushed it twice. On the last fill I let it run through then topped it up. Checked the temp was around 30-40deg. Didn't spill any on the exaughst. The smell is subsided now.
  11. Hi all, I recently changed the oil and sump on my zf. I used gulf and Western syntrans. The car cabin has a transfluid smell after its been sitting. Could this be a breather of some sort just letting off some fumes from the new oil? I have checked underneath and all the vacuum lines for and visible leaks and there is nothing. Has anyone else had this smell after changing the trans fluid? Regards Josh
  12. Just to finish this off. I pulled the dash out. You have to pull the ICC out then the centre console. Once that's done pull the dash out. You can then access the heater system. I pulled this apart and replaced both flappers and rods. The flappers are a hopeless construction....just looking at them. They have a week point where the actual rod goes through as there are two types of plastic in the flapper and it is somehow plastic welded. Due to extreme cool and hot air moving through this system stuffs the rubber and plastic weld. The guy at ford nearly sold me a broken part as the weld had broken in the flapper before it even being sold to me. If you can buy both flapper and rods off ebay its a lot cheaper and its the same part. One flapper alone is like $80 from ford. Let me know if you need help with this job. You will have this problem eventually.
  13. Got the icc out. How do I access the heater module?
  14. I'm looking at the problem being a broken rod. Can I just buy the single part from Ford spare parts? The bloke I brought the car off said this happend to him and told me not to change either side as it could happen again. I didn't listen... If it's a broken rod will I have to take the rest of the dash out? Is it the same job as the bf?
  15. Where can I get one of the fault code readers?? I have herd about the old battery issue before. I just don't understand that if a battery can start your car why wouldn't it be right to operate the remaining equipment in your car???
  16. Wish that was the case but nothing works it just stays at the same temp on the passenger side.
  17. Could anyone tell me if there is a common problem with the fg dual zone climate control system? At the moment mine is playing up. When I set both sides to hot on the display the passenger side stays cool no matter what temperature I put both sides to. Any help would be appreciated.
