  1. Awesome. Thanks for all the info, guys. $6500US is extremelly affordable. I imagine a used lump would be a steal. Like I said, this is to happen over the next six years, and now I'm just gathering as much info as I can. Up until now, I had plans to do a Volvo DOHC 24V head swap, (yes, it can be done, with minor modifications to the 2.3L Ford block and some fabrication). At least this way I can keep it all Ford, and by the sounds of the T56 being used, I only need the long block w/ intake & exhaust man. and turbo to come from overseas. If you guys can break into 11's in 4000lb beasts, my 3600lb coupe should be able to keep up pretty well at the track (I'm sure the larger engine and IRS will bump that figure a bit). In the mean time, I have a spare 2.3Turbo block/head sitting on my work bench, and a Garrett T3 .60/.63 trim to hold me over for a few years. I'll hopefully be making in the area of 250 hp with the bigger turbo and ported head. Newl, I didn't know the Thunderbird ever made it out of North America. Did you have it imported, or did Ford actually ship these cars overseas? That's awesome that there's someone on here who not only knows what a TC is, but has owned a few. (as for the turbo Mustang, they were called SVO's over here. This was long before SVT even existed) Here's how she looks now. It's a garage queen these days, waiting to be properly restored. (be kind, she's seen better days and will again before long) Anyway, thanks for the welcome, and even though I'm not running the Ba yet, I hope you guys don't mind if I lurk and pop my head in every once in a while. The more I learn about this stuff the better.
  2. So far on this site I've seen 11's, 12's, and nothing over low 13's. How much do these falcons weigh, on average? Anyway, kudos on 12.33 120 mph.
  3. Thanks, man. And I was just trying to figure out what time it was on the other end of the world. It's getting near time to leave work here, so I'll check this out in the morning, or later tonight, and see if there are any answers/flames/newb embarrassment, etc.
  4. No takers? How about another question. I'm assuming Ba 240t is the specific engine code. (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm as new to Au Fords as you can get) Could anyone tell me part #'s for other driveline parts? Tranny, Rear, Axles, Driveshaft, etc. I also need to know what kind of dimensions I'm looking at here. The space I have underhood is cavernous, so I don't think I'll have a hard time making it all fit up front. The six speed on the other hand may be a bit bigger than the Borg Warner T5. Driveshaft length isn't an issue. I'd likely just fab it to a Fox IV (-04 Mustang Cobra or Mach 1) IRS, which will bolt onto my Fox chassis already with minor mods. I just wish Ford would take GM's lead and import this chassis, and make a 2-dr body as the new T-bird. This Retro-bird is a joke, but a Falcon based Thunderbird would set everything right again.
  5. 98 as in Octane? Holy sh*te! The best we can get around here is 93, and that's an ethanol blend.
  6. Hey everybody, I just joined the site. I've been trying to find out some information on the Barra 240t. I know I like the sound of it, and would like to bring one to Canada to swap into my TurboCoupe. Don't get me wrong, I love the 2.3 Turbo. It's a screamer, and the torque deffinately gets the blood boiling, but it's just not enough anymore. I got to ride in an '03 Cobra (Mustang w/4.6L DOHC SC V8) recently, and came to the realisation that four pots just don't have enough rotating mass. With the new rubber I have to drop the hammer at above 4k to break loose. 190hp (142kw) and 240lb/ft (325nm) was a lot in 1986, but not 19 years later. Anyway, when the car hits classic status (2011), I'd like to make a complete street/strip car out of it. Something unique, and I can't think of any other Barra 240T powered TurboCoupe Thunderbirds, let alone Fords in North America. Since 9 times out of ten, a 302 (5.0L) is swapped into TC's, I thought I'd at least keep it inline and boosted. So, are these engines hard to come by? As in, do you hear of many wrecked XR6's? I know I can't import an XR6 (too many doors anyway), but the engine should be fine, as long as I can best local smog laws. How much would a used Barra 240T cost? Or if you can just help me find an Australian parts dealer/wrecker, I'd really appreciate it.
  7. Hi. I just joined up. Anyway, I found it through google. I was trying to find some way of sourcing the Barra 240t for importing to Canada. I currently own an '87 Thunderbird TurboCoupe, and will be making a strip/dd car out of it over the next few years.
