  1. Thanks all Just wanted to check that having a BA exhaust on a BF is cool, or if it was better to have a BF exhaust on a BF car. Obviously the newer or less km's on an exhaust the better! THanks for the confirmation though...hopefully the guy selling it still has it!
  2. As my warranty is running out soon on my N/A, I'm looking forward to doing some mods. In preparation I've been trying to find a few things, one of which is a turbo exhaust. Now I realise that some extra piping work is required from reading through lots of threads here...but just wanted to check that it isn't a no-no to to put a BA turbo exhaust on a BF. Sounds even silly to me if they weren't, but better to ask... Thanks y'all. -T.
  3. I can understand and accept paying money for labour on stuff I don't know how to do or want to do - flushin a radiator isn't something I've done before - google results show it isn't that hard, might give it a crack! I work in IT and charge $44.00 to $77.00 per hour which is cheap compared to lots of others who are $120.00 an hour. Been told to up my rate, but can't justify cleaning a virus off a little ol' nanna's computer and charging her that much. Or when I get called out to fix a PC that isn't switched on at the wall...it has happened! Difficult work I'm happy to charge more...Guess I'll never be a millionaire with that attitude!!!
  4. Ok, maybe I don't have a realistic idea of what one should be charged for repair work, but I'll share with y'all what just happened with my sisters 2002 Barina (60k on the clock) and Holden. Basically, emissions control light came on, started flashing - manual instructs having it looked at ASAP. Booked it in with Holden, waited 4 days and Expensive Daewoo diagnosed it as faulty/failed ignition coil. $75 just to diagnose the problem, which I thought is fair enough. Then it was about $1150.00 for new coil, installation and new spark plugs. My sister ordered a coil from some auto store up in Osborne Park (WA) and I picked it up for around $430.00. Took my sisters boyfriend bout 10 minutes to install - running perfectly now. He also priced up injector cleaning for $160.00 and plugs for about $20.00. So does the $1150 quoted seem appropriate, realistic - seemed like bulls#$t to me. Sure, I couldn't diagnose and fix it myself...but c'mon. The battery was disconnected which has reset the stereo that now requires the code. Expensive Daewoo told my sister that it's $45.00 to have the code put in to get it workin. The car was bought new in her name, from the same dealer...once again I'm suprised. I know others have had issues with Ford servicing, but with the two 04 and 06 falcons I've got I've never had a problem or been suprised with the price or a repair or service. I for one, and glad I bought a T and not a commodore! -T
  5. Geez. Well good luck mate! Look forward to hearing more about it in the future!
  6. Haha! Well beyond me and my soldering iron I'm afraid!!! Good to know it can be done though!
  7. Thanks Matt - yeah realised that when putting it together, but I haven't worried about it too much as speedo on mine becomes inaccurate over 120, and I don't do that speed anyway. Never really watch my tacho anyway - I have an auto non-turbo car at the moment! Even if I don't go ahead and fix it properly, I'm interested in knowing more about it!!! Thanks -T.
  8. I did something similar in my sedan, but instead of changing the cluster to the FPV one, I used my stock one with all non-electronic internals from an FPV cluster put in it. The cluster comes apart without screws - all clipped together. Hope that made sense and I haven't missed the point of your question! Some discussion and pics at. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...&hl=cluster
  9. Hey mate Click START, RUN and type "control userpasswords2" and press enter. Click once on your username. Uncheck the "User must enter a user name and password to use this computer" Click "Apply" Windows will prompt you to enter your current password twice. Do this, then click OK. You're all done!
  10. Yeah, the xbox mod with Xbox Media Centre is very handy! I have a $400ish logitech 5.1 THX system, nothing super fantastic but sounds great and plenty of bass in my 1 room flat!!! Using the optical spdif out of the advanced AV pack for xbox gives a good sound too. But getting back to the PC media centre, I need to get a good sound card for that, currently only have stereo outputs. Does anyone recommend a good card with spdif?
  11. Yep, I sure do. I have 1 Terebyte storage space, run Media Centre 2005 and put all my frequently watched movies and music on it. Using a media centre remote control everything operates like a regular VCR or TV, except with time-slip for pausing / skipping through live TV. I also have an Xbox which streams video and audio through to my plasma if I want to use the PC for something else! Media Centre is great. I recommend getting a copy of Auto Gordian Knot to convert your recorded TV shows to smaller xvids if you find you're running out of storage space.
  12. Thanks mate! Too easy! Here they are!
  13. Okay, finally have some pics from my LED project - sorry it has taken so long. Anyway, for the pics, go to http://members.iinet.com.au/~flynnj/fpv/ I'm not sure how to embed them in the forum (and don't have time to work it out atm), but I have them hosted elsewhere. If someone can point me in the right direction for making them appear here, by all means let me know!
  14. Didn't have any problems with the soldering. My mate and I used a fine point tip on the iron. I only have a butane soldering iron, but he had a 240v temp controlled one which he said would make life heaps easier - we used that! Once the new LEDs were in, and I put the cluster back in the car it worked straight away, every LED fired up. I do not know the exact voltage of the LEDs, as I just swapped mine from an existing cluster. Would definitely pay to check that the red ones you buy are a voltage match. I did notice that 4.5v light up a blue or green LED nicely, while 1.5v lit up one of the standard red LEDs in the cluster. I then put 4.5v through a red one and blew it to pieces! Anywho, will take some pics of everything and post up shortly - sorry for late reply, been away on holidays for a week! -T.
  15. Hey mate I've done this to my BF. Bought an SR after selling the XR6T ute, and missed the blue lights on the dash. There are about 22 green LEDs that need replacing. Most of them are blue, with 6 white ones that go on the circuit board behind the Odo and the other LCD readout (avg spd, L per 100k, etc). Five screws need to be removed to get the instrument cluster out of the car, then it just pulls apart by hand with clips. For my BF, I bought an FPV instrument cluster from a wrecker for $90.00 (it had a lazy tacho). Desoldered all blue and white LEDs and replaced the green ones on my stock BF SR. I also changed the backing plate thingie to the FPV one. Took about 3 hours all up, and I did it with a friend with a temp controlled soldering iron, tiny flat head screw driver to pry LEDs off the board, tweezers, solder and patience. Hope this helps, good luck! -T.
