Just to clarify, im not stupid as to where I stand at rallies, and rallying being as unpredictable as it is, you always need to have your wits about you. Most things that involve a little bit of danger are generally more fun, and rallying is no different. There are some points I will never stand, they are rather obvious, but theres little you can do (save from staying at home with your trusty tv) when things go wayward, like in the first photo. I've seen first hand a group N WRX barrel roll 7 times, and if there was anyone in its path, which was looking relatively safe b4 this happened, theres a whole lot of nothing they could have done. Trees, which looked like they were protecting you, can have a rather large impact on where a car ends up after its bounced of it. Im not out there for the danger ultimately, im there for the photography, and in getting the photos im after, there is danger, I accept that, and that's why you sign disclaimers at the events.
  2. Are they 265 rears? They look narrower than my 245's, but that is most likely the 9" rims. They look the goods, now to keep em clean.

This particular pic is quite old, and the reason we stand where we do, is to get the best vantage point, we dont want to get hurt, but the danger is fun.
  4. Well ive had the rims on for a week almost, and I think ive cleaned them every day.....I hate living on a dirt driveway, oh well. Had heaps of peoples comment on the street about the rims, not one negative (cept that they were a little dirty)
  5. Thanks for the positive comments, its funny driving it now, as theres Commo drivers looking over it aswell as Ford peeps. I just really like the fact they are different to most others around here. Heres a couple more pics:
  6. Yeah the nut holes are a little tight me thinks, had the Speedy rep look at them today, hes going to get me some smaller nuts (not something you say too often) and get me in a socket to suit. How did you get the rear center caps on?
  7. I got them with some 245/40/18 Dunlop Direzza tyres for $2300 including a wheel alignment. I know the owner of the store which helps a bit.
  8. Well after waiting and delibertating on which rims I should get, my local TyrePower Pro (Ray from Resivoir) got in some Speedy Cheetahs and another type, but the cheetahs looked the biz, so I ordered in a set of 18x8's and 18x9's, in black of course, with a chrome lip. Heres how they look: Im incredibly happy with how they look on the car, keeping them clean is another story though. It changed the overall appearance of the car dramatically imho. Deaks
  9. I have just gone through the whole 'what rims' dilema.....and came out the other side with a set of Speedy Cheetahs in 18x8's and 18x9's, black centres and chrome lip. My car is black too (2003 XR6T sedan). All I can say is holy *beep* they look awesome. 2" dish on the rear is what is needed on these things.

If you cant tell if its doing anything then theres a fair chance its not working. When mine cuts in, you know about it, as the car basically stops moving. that's on a 2003 XR6T sedan. Personally I just turn it off everytime anyway.
  11. Im 25, rating one, no accidents and no loss of licence, insured through Just Cars (have been for the past 5 years and three cars) and my 2003 XR6T sedan, with full options, lowered, edit, exhust, dvd and all the other stuff it has (they know about everything) cost me $1200 p/a, which I was happy with. Under 25 would have cost around $800 more the customer service fella mentioned. Just Cars has been great, but having said that, I havent used them yet, and touch wood, I dont want to.
  12. Im actually getting the same wheels, albeit in Black with the chrome lip, with 245's all round, as I cbf replacing 265 rubber all the time after I smoke them. I scored these at a great price too, and they are going on a black XR6T. Now all I need is some time off to go get them fitted. Nice choice.
  13. It'll do 12's with the $6k spent on it is what they are getting at.

I've got Falken Ziex 326's 245/40/18's on my XR6T and I wouldnt recommend them to anyone (save for a burnout comp car). They dont grip at all, wet or dry, havent had understeer yet (new car, still learning it) but they arent confidence inspiring. Oh and they came on the car too. Im thinking semi slicks for the front and some good tyres for the rear. No point spending the earth on rears, when there life expectancy isnt what you'd call long....

I have an XR6T auto with a Flash tune, all its got other than that is a cat back aqnd a BMC filter, and its awesome fun to drive. I test drove stock turbo's and while they are still quick, the edit makes them so much more fun. I got my economy down to 11ltrs/100ks on the freeway, around town it still drinks its fair share, someones gotta keep the government afloat....

I've just bought an auto XR6T with the edit done, and having come from an AWD Turbo Legacy, which was damn fast, the XR is a massive handfull in the wet. Great fun, but nothing like the Soob. Still getting used to oppy lock again Oh and it has Falkens on it atm, 245/40/18, and they suck. Sorry to hear about your car Deek. Im taking it easy atm, these melb roads suck in the wet.
