How Much Power Do You Want
There may be codes that need clearing, the stock ford computer logs high turbo pressure so this code may need clearing. Most good tuners will have a scan tool to be able check for fault codes an clear codes I know we have the scan tool so it is available. PETER APS

How Much Power Do You Want
Errr - just out of curiousity Peter, if these mods do nothing worthwhile why is it plenty of people here have got dyno sheets showing otherwise? In my expereince (not with the T) an improved intake especially can give significant improvements in driveability and measureable power gains. Maybe not att he peak level but simply by padding up 'operating ranges'. You even say so yourself that improving these are not a bad thing, so if they have bugger all effect then why are they not a bad thing? To throw a different spanner in the works... PWR apparently does a bolt in intercooler that has a 1.5lb pressure drop versus the 4.5lb of the stock unit. It's also supposed to be better at cooling... How will that affect a stock T... Especially in terms of throttle response (keeping in mind we have the injectors and the factory ECU still cutitng the fun).... If what I read in other posts is correct this cooler is also quite affordable. From my standpoint I'm doing intake, leaving the exhaust alone and would consider a PnP loomed chip once things evolve a little more. It's early days in development for all the companies and I think you'd agree that WRX products out now are vastly more capable and better than the ones released in the early years (as an example). A. Well that is interesting and I can only speak of our experience,we have tested this combination and it yeilded a zero result in terms of any additional power. I have tested stock xr6t's which have made more mumbo than xr6t's with the centre muffler removed and replacement high flow air cleaner element. I am not saying that these mod's are a bad thing its just that from what we have measured they dont produce the power that some are suggesting and I believe that forum members are entitled to know what we have found. I am not sure on the intercooler issue as you need to look at air temp reduction verus pressure drop reduction to know the entire story. To fit an intercooler without first installing larger injectors , engine management , and low restriction exhaust system in my view is putting the cart before the horse to coin an old phrase. If you really want to improve throttle response and low to mid range torque I would suggest that the UNICHIP combined with a low back pressure exhaust would provide the best result at the lowest cost. How Much Power Do You Want
Geeseman, your estimated power level is spot on, the package will be PHASE1.5 and power will be 300Kw. I hope we can supply this upgrade for approx $2600 installed and tuned. Thanks also for your input on the brakes. PETER APS

How Much Power Do You Want
Hi Chris, we have a real shortage of the injectors currently, though I hope we can supply Injectors sets later this year when supply Improves. The UNICHIP with plug in loom and matched injectors PHASE 1.5 on a stock xr6t wii generate 300Kw. Any higher power level may run you into a valve spring problem as the exhaust back pressure at the exhaust valve is very ugly when using the stock exhaust system. If we had the injectors now for sale price would be approx $1080 inc the dreaded GST.Well we are close to your target the PHASE II is 330Kw for $5650 installed and tuned, need to see where we can find another 20Kw and save $650. Thanks for your input this really helps APS to make future plans. PETER APS

How Much Power Do You Want
FALCHOON The drive train limit really depends on the driver and the application. The t5 will cope with the PHASE II power and torque level as an every day car unless you drag race every week. The auto is quite good though it would be worth it to do a small upgrade ( increase line pressure ) on the valve body to help speed up the gear shifts at full throttle. If you do PHASE I now and want to upgrade to PHASE II in the future the additional cost would be $4400 approx installed and tuned. THE $4400 covers the full exhaust system, APS cold air inlet, large bosch 44occ injectors, and high volume fuel pump. Hope this covers all of your questions. PETER APS

How Much Power Do You Want
WHITE TEE The UNICHIP installed and tuned IS currently $I650 with b4 and after power graphs.I hope in the near future to release the unichip with a matched set of BOSCH multi orifice injectors (440cc ) at a very attractive price. The injectors are quite expensive, as they are imported from BOSCH though they are the real deal ( not nasty cheap pintle type ) and are perfect for the xr6t power upgrade. I hope that we can supply this upgrade call it PHASE I.5 (at around 300Kw ) for approx $2600 installed and tuned with B4 and after power graphs. These injectors can support power up to approx 375Ww so they have a broad operating range to cater for more extreme mod's into the future. We will sell the exhaust system separately though only from APS in melbourne at this time and the cost will be approx $2495 this includes the monster 3.5'' cat which is the key element in removing the high exhaust back pressure which is evident at 280 Kw and above. Thanks for your questions I hope my answers are clear enough as I am trying to keep my posts to the point. How Much Power Do You Want
Chief, I think your wants are similar to most xr6t owners, a bit more go and a lot more whoa, your needs are very easy to get, the plug in loom and UNICHIP with larger injectors and a decent set of rotors and pads and your done for now, unless the power bug bites again. PETER APS

How Much Power Do You Want
JUINOR, 300Kw is real easy to achieve, though the best way to improve response and turbo lag is to reduce the massive back pressure in the exhaust system which is present at the 300Kw power level. The plug in loom will certainly speed up the installation of the UNICHIP and makes it much easier to return the car to stock position. The inlet manifold in my opinion would not improve the response in fact it may very well hurt low RPM torque as the stock ford Inlet manifold is all about improving low RPM torque by a having very long inlet tract. MS700 I think most would would be stoked with 350Kw. The plug in loom looks very promising and most guys like the idea, all we need now is to finish the BLOODY thing its always easier to start a project than to finish it. PETER APS

How Much Power Do You Want
Fair enough your comments are spot on. that's the problem with performance, we always want more its a DRUG.There is as always many issues to consider then of course there is the affordability issue and what provides the best bang for buck. Thanks for your reply. PETER APS

How Much Power Do You Want
I would have to agree the computer upgrade would be the best bang for buck. I doubt that the xede provides any more power than the UNICHIP at the same boost level(unless the engine is running very lean air fuel ratio's) as the maximum power is governed by the size of the stock fuel injectors. The highest power level of the xr6t engine with stock injectors is 280Kw, if you are told of a higher level then the engine is running very lean mixtures and this will most likely end in Tears. Hey thanks for your input it is nice to know what you guys expect / want from your T. PETER APS

A Few Questions For The Guru!
sorry Matt I missed your post.I am sure that the APS exhaust will fit with lowered suspension, though you will need to be careful over speed humps so you dont scrape the exhaust. We have fitted the exhaust to lowered cars, you may need to consider how low you go as there are laws regarding minimum ground clearance on components. The police in victoria defect cars all the time on this issue. PETER APS

How Much Power Do You Want
No doubt the UNICHIP offers the best bang for buck, there is nothing that I know of that gives a 30 to 40Kw power increase, the computer upgrade is a good place to start when chasing additional power. As I have said b4 the auto is not that bad I am positive that your auto was crook/faulty from day one. Its a shame that the auto problem was not sorted out by ford previous to the power upgrade, in any case let me know how you go with the auto. PETER APS

How Much Power Do You Want
Turbo4lt, YER 400KW is a nice round figure and PHASE III is very close to that number. We have upspec'd the package and the performance is awesome for a street car, pricing should be finalised within the next week. Thanks for your thoughts. PETER APS

How Much Power Do You Want
CFM I doubt that the muffler mod or air cleaner will produce any power over the stock power output, that said those mods cant do any harm. The limit of the stock fuel injectors is 280KW, so with the UNICHIP installed and tuned max power will be in the 270 to 280Kw depending on how good the base engine is. From there you will need larger injectors and a very low restriction exhaust system to make further progress. PETER APS

Final Drive Ratio's
Good question. I think the stock final drive ratio is 3.45 to I , if you are going to the trouble of changing ratio's I would make the change to a 4.11 to I ratio this would help to offset some of the weight in the xr6t. It will also depend on what size /diameter tyre you intend using, this way you can caculate the MPH the car can run on the over all gearing. let me know what you intend to do. PETER APS

How Much Power Do You Want
Hi Matt, Thanks for your post it great to know what you guys really think about performance. Now to your questions. There is no reason why the average person could not install the PHASE II system in their own garage at home ( given that they like working on cars ) though I like to dyno the car B4 starting on any mods this way you have a base power figure to start from. We charge $700 to do the base dyno run install the entire PHASE II system and then custom tune the UNICHIP before printing the b4 and after dyno sheets. So there is some saving for the DYI approach though many would prefer to pay to have a trained technician work on the car. If you prefer the DYI approach and feel confident to carry out the installation I am sure we can assist you. PETER APS

How Much Power Do You Want
Trumpy fair call many owners dont want more than 280Kw and the unichip is a stealth upgrade that does not draw unwanted attention from the law, and the car remains very quiet under all driving conditions. PETER APS
-
How Much Power Do You Want
Not at all. PHASE I will take the power to 270 to 280Kw depending on how strong/good the base engine is. At this power level (280 kw) the stock fuel injectors are flat out, so to go further the stock injectors will need to be replaced with larger multi orifice injectors the current price for PHASE I is $1650 installed and custom tuned with b4 and after power graphs. PHASE II is $5650 installed and tuned and generates 330KW of power. Now go and have a cold beer for me as well. PETER APS

How Much Power Do You Want
WHITE TEE Thanks for your post. The UNICHIP with the right injectors (BOSCH multi orifice type) will make 280 to 290KW on 98 ron fuel quite easily. At this power level the back pressure in the exhaust is starting to get high ,so your thoughts on the exhaust system fitment is spot on. With the APS exhaust fitted on top of the UNICHIP and injectors and retuned to suit the the new low B/P exhaust system 320Kw is very likely in fact this very close to the PHASE II product specs. PHASE II less the fuel pump and APS cold air inlet . Keep the info coming its great to view. PETER APS
