    Sticky Brakes

@Evil XR6T, Hi Evil XR6T, Sounds similar to a problem I was having with my BA XR6T. And like you, I want to put my experience out there in case anyone else is having similar problems. The problem started 2 years ago with a light vibration through the steering wheel at highway speed. I blamed the road but it didn't always do it in the same spots. I then blamed cruise control because it always happened when cruise was on. I would brake, get my speed down to under 80 then accelerate again and all was good. Ford inspected my car replaced 4 coils and advised I had buckled rims. But why didn't it shake all the time if it was buckled rims. I sought help from the auto electrician, I was still blaming cruise control, he replaced the other 2 coils but next highway drive it got way worse. The light vibration turned into a violent shudder. My husband starting blaming the brakes. Long story short, the ABS was sticking after being applied to cancel cruise control. As long as I didn't use the brakes, rather used the + & - or turned cruise off, I didn't have a problem. Solution: The Brake Booster has been replaced and my baby is a pleasure to drive again. Oh and, Ralph Wiggum, it may be a common and well know issue now, but I wish Ford had known about it 2 years ago. And Ford told me they have only just recently received a service bulletin and instruction about this fault.
  2. Thanks again guys. I didn't realise it was so complicated. My daughter already has a car but, in it's previous life, it was not looked after and she is having problems with it. Then there's my baby which I have lovingly cared for and looked after and drives as well as the day we bought it back in December 2005. I'm not worried about her driving the more powerful vehicle it is just the legal side and if she's not driving it legally she is also not insured. I will wait.
  3. Thanks guys, it was worth asking anyway. The car is in great condition and would be ideal for her if not for the turbo. That's ok, I will keep it until she can legally drive it.
  4. Hi guys. I have a BA XR6 Turbo which I have owned for nearly 7 years now. I have absolutely loved driving this car except for a problem with the ABS which I have finally had fixed, but that's a story for another forum post. I want to give this car to my daughter but she is on her green P plates and cannot legally drive it for another 8 months. I want to know can I disable or remove the turbo so she can legally drive the car. I want to be able to re-enable or refit the turbo in 8 months. Any suggestions??
