About The Falcon

  1. Thanks, I am in NSW so I need to get an inspection done each year. I think I will speak with the guy doing the inspection and see what he will pass and what he wont. This seems to vary between places that do inspections.
  2. My concern is the car being defected because of mods. Need to find out what is leagle and what is not. May be APS and their mean and green package maybe worth looking into.
  3. Thanks, The guys at Gentech did the first tune and did a great job, The car will more than likely go back to them for the next tune as I want to stay local, I looked into changing to a later model XR6T but for the change over price I can do a lot to my series 1. Already done brakes, fitted FPV wheels,HDI Intercooler and upgraded to a TR6060 gearbox with a twin plate clutch. So next will be valve springs, cat and maybe fuel pump if needed. Also need to change the diff from 3.46:1 to 3.73:1 Rods will be at a later date or as you said hunt down a late model short motor.
  4. It only rattles while the car is sitting at idle. Push in the clutch and the rattle goes away.
  5. Series 1 BA. Its tuned to 250RWKW at the moment. I am looking at getting 300-320RWKW at the next tune.
  6. Thank, Paul did say to make sure the car was not labouring in 5th and 6th. I will be rebushing the rear end in the next 6 months so I will look into changing the diff to 3.73 at the same time. Greg
  7. The Clutch is a RPM twin plate. After you fit the new gearbox make sure the slip yoke and the tailshaft are in line. I needed to drop the centre of the tailshaft 22mm using spacers I made from some solid alloy rectangle bar. The output shaft of the new gearbox sits around 20mm lower than the T5Z. You could do it in a weekend if all goes well. It took me hours to get the old slipyoke of the tail shaft. I asked questions and waited for answers on a few things so this dragged it out over a couple of weeks. Its worth doing. Its a different car to drive, Let me know if you need any information on doing the conversion. Greg
  8. Back on the road. It drives fantastic. So smooth. Gear ratios seem to be good in all gears. 6th want get used much, 110kph at 1500rpm. The only thing I am not happy with is the twin plate clutch rattling at idle. (Purchased from ebay not Mal Woods) The clutch is light and very smooth so maybe I will just have to put up with it and get one from Mal next time. T5Z with cross member and New Concentric Slave Cylinder, 5 speed gear knob for sale. Also have old clutch and fly wheel. Greg
  9. Almost done. I have had lots of support from Paul at Mal Woods. Anyone looking at doing this conversion should give them a call. Customer support is excelent. I should have the car finished on the weekend, Just need to make up some spacers for the centre bush mount on the tail sharft. Next will be the chase for around 320RWKW. Anyone know someone looking for a good T5Z Gearbox? Thanks. Greg
  10. Thanks, What a barsted. I managed to get the slip yoke off. The bush had rusted onto the tail shaft. The bush stayed on the shaft. I had to put a cut in the bush to get it off the tail shaft. Little bit of pitting on the shaft from the rust. I think I will get it looked at before refitting. I purchased a TR6060 kit from Mal Woods for a BA. It should all line up. I will get a new uni fitted while its out as you have Suggested.
  11. Hi Guys, I am fitting a 6 speed to my series 1 BA XR6T and I am having a problem removing the old Slip yoke from the tail shaft. It wont budge. Can anyone help out with some information? Thanks. Greg
  12. I would have a new GT if I had the money. At this stage boobs will do.
  13. Being scared about negative feedback I went with Weapon X from Taipan motorsport They sit a little different but all misfiring problems are gone. Next step will be back to Gentec for hi flow CAT and new edit.Hoping for 290-300rwkw.
