  2. Happy Birthday Tony L!

  3. Same here Harry, LOVE my red beast. I have put a XR8 airbox and snorkel on and its improved the grunt a little more. Very happy with the improvement. I held out from doing mods as long as I could but im only human I guess. Now the weather is cooling down a bit, I am surprised just how long it takes for oil temp to reach normal operating temp, which is around 90 - 100 deg. Dont forget I have a FPV instrument cluster which shows oil temp. From a cold start with outside air temp 15 deg, it takes 20 minutes to reach 90 deg with normal city driving. If its 25 deg out side, it can take 15 min. 30+ outside takes about 5 or 10 min. I believe oil temp is important, ESPECIALLY for turbos as the engine oil lubricates the bearings in the turbo and cold oil doesnt lubricate very well. I have done lots of research on this subject on there are lots of different opinions out there. However, after speaking to some professionals and some trusted automotive brains, I believe that an oil temp of 80 deg is the minimum temp where I can safely put my engine under heavy load. I have learnt to be very patient waiting for oil temp. As I will be keeping this car for ( hopefully !) the next 10 years, I want to look after it best I can. Every passenger who has been in my car is impressed with its interior and performance. I have let a few guys from work have a drive and they say its quicker then they thought it was going to be. Impressive to hear that as they drive quick cars themselves. Thinking about tyres soon, already rotated tyres from front to back. The standard tyres really cant handle the power at all well. In saying that, if I left the traction control on all the time, my tyres would last for a hell of a long time. But who wants that? Not me, ha ha. I have done 8500 km and lovin every minute. Just bought an ipod for my car and it works awesome, I recommend it highly. Nothing has broken yet which is good but I am still battling a creaking drivers seat ( 3 full days at the dealer, not fixed ) and many other assorted noises but I can live with them as the car, as a package, ROCKS!!
  4. How about an update on your G6ET? Does it still tick all the boxes?
  5. Awsome mix of luxury and pure grunt. Yes, there are some build quality issues, however, as a complete package they ROCK. Enjoy!
  6. cal3540, I have 7000 km on mine and I also have creasing in my drivers seat. I doesn't appear to be wearing too bad though.
  7. These cars are built for performance, and perform they do. I think anyone who drives these cars, without a mature temperament is asking for trouble. I am 38 and I am confident that 1. I will not loose my licence, and 2. I am not a danger to my self or others on the road. If I owned my G6ET when I was 25 years or younger, I would be in a lot of trouble as my temperament was that of a child. If your wife is responsible, then I say a G6ET is a good choice. In the wet, I have had no problems. As hrick said earlier, its all about the right ankle which is excellent advice.

AAMI, I pay $700+ for G6ET, I am rating 1 and I am 38 years old. I was told by them that they generally allow 2-3 performance mods to a vehicle
  10. Yeah, LOTS of people have this opinion also
  11. Do you run your air con on fresh or recirc? I found mine works better, in summer, on recirc
  12. Hey Dillz!! Did you put your car on it's roof??!!
  13. My G6ET spins both, it all about brake control......
  14. I found the factory sat nav a pain in the rear end
  15. My dealer agreed that it is a good idea to change the oil at 7500 or even a bit earlier. They charged me $100 total which I reckon is pretty good.
  16. I need to correct my self here, its actually the DSC unit doing it's self-test. Sorry
  17. Sorry, double post, but go the G6ET
  18. Yeah, go the G6ET, it ticks ALL the boxes
  19. The clunk is the ABS system, its normal
  20. So Harry, you'll be getting a tune in 6 years time then

    Whats the saying.....You play.......
  22. Could be the temp sensor in the mirror is faulty. Have read lots about the earlier model FGs all had this issue. In most cases Ford will change the mirror. My wifes 08 G6 was parked next to my G6ET '10 There was 6 degrees difference on the readings
  23. My air con also takes a few seconds to start the cold air on a warm start. Could take up to 30 seconds for it to produce cold air but I have not timed it. Before the cold starts, its HOT air from the vents. During the colder months I tried not to use the aircon at all but found it hard because of fogging windscreen issues. Its ok if I use fresh air without the aircon but hate the fumes from the outside stinking up the cabin. Now I just leave it on recirc and semi auto all the time, hot or cold, works well for me.
  24. Hello Harry, sorry to hear someone smashed your car, bloody Sydney drivers......I could't bear to think about something happening to mine. I have 6000 km on mine, its getting stronger slowly. Air con works great, dont know why so many people are saying its crap, maybe those temp sensors in the mirrors are causing people grief. Did some towing recently, it was a breeze. I had the same load on 2 previous vehicles and they both struggled. The G6ET now loves it! Wow, talk about torque, what a machine! I have started a thread on another forum regarding the rattles, squeaks and creaks in my car. Here is the link http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11318030 I am still thinking about getting a tune and some mods done but I reckon I will wait till the 3 years is up. If I did get 300 RWKW and something blew up not covered by warranty any more, my wife will not talk to me ever again, especially as we bought a NEW car for the warranty.......... Ow well, mabe just a Blue Power cold air intake. Might get 7 RWKW if I am lucky but I will get that awesome induction noise. Thinking of getting my oil changed at 7500 km as I have given her a bit of a hard time. Ford recommend 15000 for 1st change Sorry to put all my info in your thread but our cars are probabuly at the same point in their lives and mabe we can compare where we are at. I believe your thinking of MORE power as well. Yeah....I know the feeling also. To mod or not to mod. Dam that warranty.
