Hey all, I didn't realise we already had a thread on the ZF Tuning already I should have looked sorry. Anyway, I just thought I'd post up my personal experience so far with the ZF tune having been one of the first customers a few weeks ago to have it done. Here's the link to my experiences:

Agree! Yeah... me being one of those animals too!

I do understand your point and yes in context it has merit. However, it has nothing to do with the ZF tune that is now available, so I fail to see why you’re complaining when you should be celebrating? New software requires new hardware sometimes. The Xcal 1 was canned yes, sucks totally for anyone who purchased it. But you need to know why that happened... Sometime approximately in 2008/09 the USA switched of all SCT tuners here in Australia over an alleged contract breach from the first distributor, having thousands of customers & over 65 tune shops Australia wide left in the dark. Rob Herrod ''Herrod Motorsport'' has now taken the reins & rebuilt what was a total collapse of the SCT Ford tuning industry. In 2010, Rob Herrod true to his promise has provided tuners, Australia wide with an unparallel service & open table relationship with SCT in the USA which in turn have provided us ''the tuners'' with up to date software which is also why the x1 had to go... due to the constant challenge & the demands of our Ford enthusiasts with the introduction of the ZF 6 speed auto, it has SCT hard at work in developing the latest upgrades once again. Hence, the X3 was developed. It wasn't Rob Herrod's fault and he did give a special offer to all Xcal1 owners. Herrod Motorsport offered for 90 days only, from the 16th June 2010, to the end user a $200.00 factory rebate on the purchase of a new X3 tuning device. Conditions of the rebate are that it must be returned to Herrod Motorsport unlocked and be accompanied by a copy of invoice from the Supplier/Tuner from which the new X3 unit was purchased. I know what you’re saying and I agree with your disappointment, however this shouldn’t relate to the ZF Tune and its costing. It’s a completely separate topic. The situation relating to the Xcal 1 and SCT should be left in the past as much as it was wrong and totally sucks, lets move on yeah? You can’t expect a tuner to spend a day or two tuning your ZF Gearbox, testing it etc and cost you nothing? Regardless of the points discussed the benefits with this new tuning software is so worth it for ZF gearbox owners. Let’s let the people who have had it done have their say regarding its value for results.

A ZF transmission tune is completely different to an engine custom tune. They could not previously do tuning of the ZF till recently. Herrod have spent countless hours perfecting these tunes. The numerous parameters and thousands of calculations can now be accessed through the latest software, which was not achievable previously. They have done the hard work, blown up ZF gearboxes in the process to show what you shouldn’t do when tuning these babies. Anyway, the tune is separate from what you’re referring to and shouldn’t be confused with what was available. What is available NOW is a complete ZF gearbox tune! $500 (which quite possibly may drop in price over time) for the numerous changes that not only gives the gearbox a greater lifespan but I wouldn’t be surprised if it does take close to half a second off ¼ mile times. There are numerous benefits discribed in post one. As someone who has had this done, I can honestly say it is amazing how this tune has refined something we all know doesn’t need much more refining. But for those who know the areas we’d love improved regarding the ZF, it is NOW finally achievable!!!

You'll be very surprised at how the ZF tune brings new life to an already amazingly fast gearbox. From what I've felt in the differentiation of gear-changes since STD... I tend to be more confident of the possibility that it will... It immediately felt quicker, sharper & precise changes. You get a perfect run and with a faster shifting gearbox you've got a better time I say. But go for it! Would be good to see some individual results.
  6. Ezz replied to Ezz's topic in Driveline Workshop
From what I've been told, the ZF tune could well wipe off half a second off your quarter mile time. Don't quote me on it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is possible.
  7. Ezz replied to Ezz's topic in Driveline Workshop
The ZF gearbox tune is completely separate to an engine tune. This is purely a Gearbox tune using the latest SCT software developed by Herrod. There are only a few tuners who have 'currently' been qualified to complete the course on tuning the ZF using the latest software, but courses are still running from week to week to provide training for all who intend to tune these gearboxes. It is a separate cost to an engine tune, therefore nothing to do with an engine tune thus it is done completely separate to tuning an engine. Presently the tune for the ZF gearbox is $500, which is excellent value for money considering the numerous changes that are made to the thousands of calculations in the gearbox. Absolutely YES! But in saying that, it all depends on how the gearbox is treated. Due to the shift patterns being lowered and holding onto gears for less time, the gearbox has less strain on it. Thus, if it's looked after and you don't thrash it about too often of vigorously then its lifetime will definitely be extended.
  8. I suggest getting the ZF tuned through the new software that's just become available. Got mine tuned last Tuesday @ Bluepower. Once you've driven a calibrated ZF you'll never go back to STD!

Hi all ZF 6HP26 Gearbox owners, I'm pretty proud to be one of the first in Australia to have my ZF professionally tuned with the latest software from Herrod. It was done last Tuesday at BluePower and I've gotta say, I'm never going back to STD. Gear changes are sharper and shorter, no thump what so ever going down from 2nd to 1st. My brother and I took it for a road test today to play around with it and we were both immediately responsive and ecstatic to the differences in all styles of this tuned transmission. Manual mode, sports... blistering changes that felt strong but precise... even more so than this magnificent transmission as STD. The shift points between gear changes have definitely decreased therefore a quicker transition in gear changes and smooth fluent acceleration. The gear changes were sharper and quicker, even in normal [D]rive mode. This already amazing gearbox is even more responsive now but as the weather hasn't been ideal, I haven’t really been able to put it through its paces for long enough yet. This is just on first impressions... which is nothing short of extraordinary! Thanks again to Chris, Theo and Ryan at Bluepower for all the work last Tuesday and Wednesday! * * * * * * * * * * * * This is a brief point form description of the kind of effects and results that can be achieved via adjustment and calibration of the several hundred files in the transmission; -TCM based vehicle speed limiting -Shift schedule, which allows changing transmission shift points and how long the vehicle holds onto each gear in all transmission modes -Kick-down sensitivity -Change of shift pattern for differential gear changes -Manual mode downshifting -Eliminate holding second gear till standstill -Adjust torque converter stall settings -On-coming and Off-going clutch shift behavior for built transmissions -Running Line Pressure for high power applications -Shift pressure per shift event based on actual gear -Maximum shift time and amount of slip for each shift -All of these pressure and time/slip settings are discrete for up-shift and downshift -Torque limits for general transmission operation -Torque reduction for each shift event -Maximum transmission torque capability for built transmissions -Torque characteristic to adapt for different viscosity transmission fluids *Thanks to the fella's at Herrod for all the info and their tireless testing.*
  10. Let me say that including the car and all the work done, it was between 22,000 and 28,000. Sorry, but don't want to give the exact figure. I was well looked after that's for sure. The car performs brilliantly and is sure to last. I would recommend the boys Chris and Theo at Blue Power Performance to anyone. They know their stuff and the best ways to get performance and protect your car from future unwanted problems that can often be associated with modding.
  11. 2005 Falcon XR6 Turbo - 6 Speed ZF - Bionic My first XRT and I'm hooked... and its only stock... for now! As some of you know I've been looking for a while. I've looked at over 20 XRT's in the past two months around VIC and in the end I believe I've chosen the best one priced in my price range. So, after speaking to the previous owner I discovered that he recently had the car returned to stock. Before, it was a 333rwkw BEAST! (and that they say was a mild tune for the work done.) Fortunately, the owner kept all the parts and so, I decided to buy them off him too. Now, he was so pedantic about his car he never really used the power... other than a little squeeze here and there. He's a modest driver and simply wanted the power at his disposal whether he used it often or not. So, I'm pretty excited because she's going back into the workshop to get everything back on... the guy who did the work and returned it to stock said to me "gee I knew this was gonna happen!" Here is a small list of whats being done... MOD LIST: - 800hp Plazmaman Inter-cooler (Black) - 4" Dump Pipe - 3.5" X-Force duel straight through Exhaust system - Surge Tank and Wastegate (Can't remember model and make) - Piping of course - Fortunately the car was one of the lucky 05 BF series 1 models that came with the Typhoon valve springs. (No need to upgrade!) - K&N Pod Filter - FPV Typhoon Conrods - Bigger Injectors - Other engine work to toughen the beast up - 18" FPV GT Rims with Bridgestone Adrenaline Rubber - King Springs with KONI Shocks - Red stuff to slow her down... - Typhoon gauges - XR8 Bonnet Bulge - Tinted Windows Power output at the Engine: 383kW (roughly) Power @ the rears: 332.8kW Taming this beast is going to be a slow and respectful process. Tunning is @ 14psi PICS BELOW Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  12. 140, that wld be the perfect price range for me. Thanks, will keep looking... no luck so far online, hopefully one will pop up.
  13. Hey guys, I was wondering if someone cld help me find a Typhoon Air box? Basically I want do change the air box when I pick the car up and get the car tuned to 250kW but in order to do so I need to find a Typhoon Airbox... reasonably cheep too. What wld I realistically be looking at the for the box? I don't want to spend $400 on an air box... unfortunately the guy sold the F6 air box he had in it when it was modded. Am I being unrealistic on price? Not looking at installing the other stuff at present. Just want to start with 250Kw's @tw. (I looked at creating a Thread expressing interest in wanting to buy a Typhoon Air Box but couldn't find out how to create the thread?)
  14. I can't remember exactly what the make of the Intercooler is but it starts with P I think? Its black and bigger than the stock XRT and Typhoon. Also, a 4" dump pipe with a twin straight through 3" exhaust system. can't remember brand... sorry. Surge tank and piping etc. The only things I need wld be a Typhoon airbox, the bigger injectors and that's it. He said fortunately his series 1 BF came with the Typhoon valve springs which is randomly lucky as not all the S1 BF's came with them. The guys at Blue Power discovered this and said he was lucky as it a random selected few in the S1's. Great, one thing I wont have to replace.
  15. lol, you were right Dillz. Thanks mate. He was totally honest with me which was great. He told me it was modified and then returned to stock purely for sale and RWC. The work was done by Blue Power Racing Developments - Campbellfield VIC by Theo. I have all the dyno sheets and some awesome pics as well. I've heard good reports about these guys... have you?
  16. This WEEK! I'm so pumped! geee it was great to drive. I've got a bit of a surprise too... it was modded but he returned it back to stock to sell... This thing was pulling 345Kwts atw! Without a problem. the thing is he's still got all the parts so I bought them as well!!! Should I get Bendix Ultimate pads for the front?
  17. Hey guys. I've put a deposit on the 2005 Bionic XRT... really happy with the car. Much better than the rest that I looked at. Wondering what breaks they have stock? Do they have twin pots at the front?
  18. Cheers for all the info on what to look for our06t. The car is situated in Craigieburn VIC... any trusted workshops you know of around here? Looking again next Saturday. Thanks again
  19. Ok guys, presently I'm going for the 2005 BF XR6 Turbo - Bionic Blue one. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Any suggestions on things to look for when test driving a second had BF XRT? Its got the ZF 6 Speed Auto, only 76,000 ks on it. Going to look at it this Saturday.
  20. Cheers Dillz, will do mate. The last thing I will buy is a lemon waiting to be squeezed. I'll be as thorough as I can be and take my time.
  21. I'll be selling two Mitsubishi's to buy myself a nice XRT so I don't think I can justify selling two Mitsu's to by another one. Don't get me wrong though, I have had these two cars for the past 5 years and none of them have missed a beat. In my personal experience these two Mitsubishi's have been the most reliable cars I've ever driven. but time to move on and buy a FORD XRT... (I let you guys know what sorta Mitsu I was driving when I get my new car... you'll be surprised!)
  22. Cheers Buf-Phoon Our06T and everyone else who took the time out to give me advice. Totally agree with you all. lol, camry... never! I've driven my brothers 07 Typhoon quite a bit over the last two years... it has 300+ rwkw and I'm scared to even put the foot down a little. I'd be happy with a stock one or a lightly modded one. The Bionic Blue one looks a goer at present... now to sell my car and the wife's. Cheers for all you opinions and support fellas... hopefully I'll be joining you all on this forum in the coming weeks when I finally get an XRT! Aaron
  23. Thanks for the heads up guys and opinions. Ideally would luv to go an 07 BF stock... but I'm contemplating one with some mods too so that I don't have to spend any money in modding the car in the not too distant future. XR8 bonnet with bodykit and aftermarket rims wld be ideal... but as you guys have suggested, not sitting too low either. This one looks the god too... gee these are popping up everyday? 2005 FORD FALCON BF XR6 TURBO - $22,500 Yay... it has a ZF 6 speed! http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=9198201&keywords=Turbo&tsrc=allcarhome&__Ntk=CarAll&__Nne=15&__Dx=mode%20matchany&PriceTo=413&__Qpb=true&PriceFrom=395&__D=Turbo&silo=1011&seot=1&__sid=1285629C9B07&__N=1216%201246%201247%201252%201282%204294966463%204294966285%20395%20413%20903&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&__Ntx=mode%20matchallpartial&Cr=4&__Ntt=Turbo&trecs=47
