I have not heard about it, but from the smell I would say that your brakes may have been on for a long period? Would be asking for replacement pads and rotors while it is there!!

OK, Update....did a little more looking around, and it looks like the intake piping is split at one of the joints..... Question is, it is normal that there would be that much oil coming from the intake?

Good Morning all, Had a quick search, but was not able to find what I was looking for..... Yesterday morning, I notices that I could hear what I would call a "Boost" leak - Hearing the sound of escaping pressurise air - at above 3500rpm. Also, when getting off the power, I could hear the Wastegate really loudly - well loud for a stock one! I had a quick look under the bonnet this morning, and noticed that the intake and left hand suspension tower is covered in oil. Spoke to a Ford Dealer, and they are not open today - Typical! - but have got it booked in for Monday Morning. Just so that I am not going in unprepared, and that they are likely to give me any manny of crap about what is going on, is anyone out there able to give me any advise for when I am there? Thanks all and have a good weekend!

What model? I have an FG but I think the BA/BF ran the pipes differently? I am happy to take pics and post for you.

From what I understand (and read) the overboos will allow 10% over the nominal boost for short bursts. ie. for short bursts of sideways action, red light races or even for overtaking Manoeuvres!

Hmmm, I would think that in such a short time there would be no damage. Oil pump is not driven by the fan belt, and no water pumping prolly ok? Anyone correct me?

I have an FG XR50T, and get the same "Clunking" in reverse when engaging/diesngaging clutch..... Also have a noise while in Neutral, and had it looked at at the 1000km inspection and told it was "Normal for this gearbox" though I will be complaining at the 15k service again.... Thanks

giantlobster: You are describing exactly what I am hearing with mine.....Have you had your dealer look at it yet? Please let me know. When it was in for the 3000km "Check" they said it was normal....just wondering what they say? Thanks

50th Ann Sedan 6sp Man?

Got mine on the 10th September....and aparently I had the last production slot for the XR50T's. They changed it from a White auto to a silver Man. No other dealers in Vic had any....didnt search as far north as Qld, maybe I should have???? Anyways, have mine now

I was making the assumption (assumptions being the mother of all f$&@ ups) that the tune was without any other mods? I.e just to clean it up a little.

Not having had a tune done myself, and only going by what I have read from other members, after a tune they sometimes "feel slower" as it is not as harsh in the power delivery, however they tend to be quite a bit "faster". Just my 2c

True, I think technically, it is "Launch Assist". As you said, "Launch Control" needs to control all aspects of take off. Take the VW Golfs for example with their DSG gearbox....That does a great job of it. I think the reason for the FG to do this is that when it is sitting at 3500rpm, it is only running on 4 cyl. the other two are there purely to drive air through to spool up the turbo. Anyone want to correct me? I have not been game enough to keep on practicing it....maybe when it is a little older and a little more abused

Bull@$*t service. Didnt even change the oil...just "checked" everything. Prolly just sat there for 2 hours..... Though the did wash/vac it.

Tried it once, exactly as you said, thoigh 3500rpm. With traction on it launches, then bogs down as it does its stuff. With the traction off, it does the same though all hell seems to break loose as it wheel spins in a cloud of smoke! There are a couple of youtube vids showing it in action if you search.

Thanks for the information..... Any chance you can confirm what the measurement for the correct fill of oil is? Otherwise I will bring it back and have them drain the oil and check it.... Though I can just imaging the way that that conversation will go: Me: I would like you to check the oil level in the gearbox ford: OK come back to pick up car.... me: did you check oil level ford: yes: me: what was it? ford: OK me: so if I check it myself will be OK ford: sure when I get home: Drain oil and find that it is low.....at this point I am sure that Ford will not pay for the replacement oil!!!
