Typhoon Guages
Guys, are the phoon guages mechanical or electric? I hate the fact that the standard boost guage has no units too, and want to replace it when I get my phoon. Wouldn't mind getting me some Defi BF guages. http://www.defi-shop.com/product/bf/bf_top.html No doubt hugely expensive though...

F@#k It, I'm Buying A Typhoon
Thanks for the reply flappist, I'll take that into account. I've made some enquiries as to aftermarket AP racing kits, and though they seem to be pretty capable (in fact, they seem damn good!), I don't want any post-purchase insurance/compliance issues at all. With my history, I can't afford the insurance people to take a dislike to me One place said they supply a compiance certificate for their AP kits, but only if the full kit (front/rear, lines, pads & brackets) is purchased of course. My driving style really is anything but subtle, so I'll certainly be spending some time considering my options. Taking insurance into account and whatnot, I may be better off ticking the Brembo box, and simply hunting around for the best deal on pads. I'm taking this purchase pretty seriously, to the extent that I'm budgeting around $5-6k per year for vehicle upkeep. That's including rego, insurance, servicing and a rough stab at fuel for the year. Pretty anal, and that figures only rough, but it's still food for thought in terms of what a phoon might cost me. Brembos are a definate possibility, even if a do have to give up the whores and booze for a week or two

F@#k It, I'm Buying A Typhoon
ah, roger that guys, I wonder what time frame I'll be looking at when I order... There's no reason to wait now, as the clutch is sorted, and the only thing in the wings is the auto. And a fine auto it will be, but I wants my gear stick! hehe I just got home from star wars ep3. not a bad movie (won't go any further into that here), but during parts, I found myself running various phoon colours through my mind, and milling over the brake options. ugh. I'm still keen on mercury silver for some reason, but still haven't actually seen it in the flesh. love the blue pearl as well though, and oh the black. hmmm yellow would be pure pr0n too... anyway, to bed! not to spoil anything, but it turns out that Anakin becomes Darth Vader and is actually Lukes father!!!!!

Gt35 Vs Gt40 Turbo Unit
I just noticed in my FPV brochure that the specs sheet for the Typhoon lists the Garrett GT35/GT40 turbo. What's the difference, and why would there be two versions? I'm sure it's not a big issue, as the performance must end up being the same, but I'm just curious.

F@#k It, I'm Buying A Typhoon
Cheers fellas! I'd better look into that lead time thing pretty quickly by the sounds of it. Think I'll take your advice and stick with the factory brakes, and investigate the AP racing/Alcon options later on if the mood takes me. Oh man, I haven't even got the car yet, and I'm mentally modding it But I digress! Now if we could only get someone inside FPV to have a look at the details of the October update... oh man this is gonna kill me. I can't wait, but DAMN I'll be pissed if they come out with a new Gunmetal colour and steering wheel paddles for the auto hehe

Nice, thanks for the advice fellas. You all make some very pertinent points. I think I'll keep my ear to the ground re: the October update, and jump in as soon as I'm satisfied (paddle shifters eh, how cool would that be? if only ) Either way, I look forward to joining the ranks of you fine gents, and finally jumping behind the wheel of a Turbo Six with the blue badges Hey, I turn 30 in October too

Yeah dude, I can't wait to get things rolling. I think the hardest part will be trying to act aloof and disinterested with the sales dude. Don't want to seem too keen eh? One thing I do fear though, is mod-land. The performance that dudes are extracting from their xr6t's is truly friggin amazing, and I'm not sure I'd be able to resist forever. Long live the Ford Turbo 6!

F@#k It, I'm Buying A Typhoon
Gents, all, Having lurked around for a while with very little to contribute, I figured it was time to throw my hat in the ring and say g'day. g'day Seriously though, with all this clutch business apparently in the past, I've decided to buy a Typhoon in the next few months, and was wondering a couple o' thoughts... Is there any good reason (apart from the auto) to wait until the October update before buying? I'm after the manual, so seems like now is as good a time as any. I'm sure brand new "fixed" phoons sold now, will be the same spec as those sold later on (Oct) right? And about those brembos - a dealer told me a full set of factory pads will cost about $3k!!! (wtf?) Now I really want the brembo's, but I'm not paying anybody $3000 for pads. I've been told that Herrod etc, sell pads suitable for the Brembo's at $ far less than the factory part. What's the go? So there it is. My only problem now, is the colour. Currently loving my Gunmental EF a whole lot (yes, the time has come), and the closest to that is Mercury Silver. On the other hand, the idea of a black/dark blue phoon makes me want to soil myself. phhhooooooonnnn

NEWSFLASH!
Thanks man, I'll keep muh ear to the ground. I'm dead set keen on the T, and I can't see Ford leaving such a critical performance issue unsolved. Shall keep the faith.

NEWSFLASH!
Holy sh*te guys This thread was the first time that I'd ever heard of this overboosting/cutout thing. I damn well hope they fix this (will be watching here closely), as I was about to go the T any month now (month - hur hur hur). Erm, yeah...
