  1. I noticed that too after my 30,000 service, oh wait, that was just the wad of paper left in my intake. Dazza. Seriously ? How long did it take for them / you to work that one out ? Surely they can't be that stupid ???
  2. I am hearing that the 5 speed boxes aren't up to the horse power. Does anyone know if Ford are starting to de-tune the XR Turbo's to try and reduce gearbox warranty claims ?
  3. I heard something interesting the other day, apparently Ford have had guys out at the Drags in Sydney and Melb writing down plates so they can Void the warranties on any XR's they see out there dragging.
  4. Has anyone noticed that after the Ford 15,000KM service, the Turbos seem flat and don't have the same pick-up as prior to the service ?
  5. Hey Guys, While we are on this topic, does anyone know if it is possilbe to adjust the amount of Bass that is sent to, or the volume of the Sub Woofer ?
  6. To minimise the likelihood of noise interfering with the signal on your board, there are two main things to that can help a lot - "surface mount" components and at least a dual layer board with a large ground plane will reduce EM induced noise SIGNIFICANTLY. Three layer is even better with a power plane. Also, make sure you keep your power-stage physically far away from your amplification stage. Obviously, a common grounding point is mandatory. Board design is critical to keep the signal clean. Have a read of "EMC for Product Designers" (ISBN: 0750649305). This is a good text on how to minimise EMI in real world applications. Using SMD components (althought a little tricky to solder) are HEAPS better than thru-hole because the legs running orthogonal to ground/power plane act like antennas, picking up noise and thus making your signal dirty. I might make something soon-ish because I am looking at using my AUX input eventually. Ok, Thanks Guys. Lot more responses than I expected. I didn't realise this group existed when I ordered my XR, otherwise I would have done it myself, but I had the dealer fit it, so I might give him some grief when I take it in for Service. Sounds like I have some Fellow Elec. Engineers out there as well, all the talk about dual layered SMD Amp boards.
  7. Hey, Has anyone out there had an "Aux In" fitted to their Stereo system ? When I plug a CD player or MP3 Player into my "Aux In" the volume is too soft. I can hardly hear it. Has anyone else had this problem ? Does anyone know if the Dealers can adjust this volume in a "setup" mode on the Stereo system ?

I've been reading a lot about these ICC falling apart if turned upside down, and I am really starting to wonder. Surely, in a car, travelling on a road with potholes etc, these units must be exposed to Negative G Forces all the time. So if the are going to "fall"apart when turned upside down, why wont they fall apart in when you hit a pothole ????
  9. I am running Standard Unleaded in mine. Have tried all the 98RON fuels, really makes no difference, only to the economy
