Well I wasn't 100% sure if it was unlocked, so I sent it to HiTorque (who I'm going to get to tune it) and they said it's unlocked and good to go. Should I really worry about what other tuners say if HiTorque are doing it and they are fine with using the first series boxes? There are no problems with the first series of Capa boxes?

Hey guys, I apologise if I've repeated any other threads, but I'm chasing some up to date info. I'm booking a custom tune in the next couple of weeks and already have a Capa (Xcal 1, or whatever the first ones that came out are called) and I've heard a lot of conflicting stuff about them. One tuner I spoke to said that he heard of a customers accelerator getting stuck on and it turned out to be the box... other workshops say that they don't use Capa boxes at all because they're 'dodgy' and prefer to use VCM. On the other hand some of the bigger workshops that have some insane boosted Falcons (HiTorque) don't use anything else. What I'm really trying to find out if there is any harm in me using the box I currently have, and if it all depends on the tune that they do? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Michael.

Ahhhhh. Is there a way I can tell if it's flashed back to stock before I book in my tune and drive an hour to get there(I'd prefer not to leave my car there for the tuner to tell me my box is locked)? Also, is there any way I can tell the difference between the boxes? Thanks heaps for all your help, guys.

Hey guys, Just a quick one, I'm getting a set of Nizpro Valve Springs installed some point in the very near future, do I need a tune immediatly, or am I right to drive around 'till I get my pump and injectors installed and then get the tune? Also, while I've got you, I have a Capa Flash Box that has previously been used on another car (1 life is used) am I able to use that on my car? Is there any way to tell if it's locked or not? Hey guys, I recently bought a set of Siemens 60lb injectors and a Walbro 340 and am going to pick up a set of Nizpro Valve Springs this coming week. My car already has a VCM tune in it, it's running 8 pound boost. If I was to go the option of getting a Capa box and subsequently, a custom tune (from a different tuner)... what happens to the VCM tune? Am I able to keep the current VCM tune as the 'stock' tune? Or am I better off getting the old tuner to tune it back to stock? Will it really matter? Also, while I'm here, anyone got a rough estimate on the power I might make..? Car is a 4 speed auto with an F6 'Cooler and CAI. Any help is greatly appreciated, Michael.

This. Sean and Mark are awesome at what they do. If I had an LS* I wouldn't hesitate in taking it to them. They are pretty pricey though.

A good mate of mine (owns Drift King at Geebung) said that upgrading the exhaust should be first? He said that it's risky turning the boost up too high with a stock exhaust....? If this isn't the case I might save myself some coin and get valve springs, injectors and fuel pump instead of exhaust, injectors and fuel pump. And before you ask I will be going to ask a workshop that works on these cars all day every day first before I do any work.

I'd get a full exhaust for sure. Should be able to get exhaust, injectors, pump and a tune for three grand. What kinda power do the valve springs max out at on the BAs?

I don't know how you still have a licence with that much power!! I'm about to finish my three month suspension. It's rough only having four points to play with. OT. What should I look at getting done to the gearbox? And what are the best injectors for my setup? Cheers, Michael.

Interesting. Of all the tuners I've spoken to there were no additional costs with the tune. I'll have to look more into it though I guess. Ideally, I'd like the comfort of the Capa box, but I think VCM will suffice.

Well injectors it is then!! A VCM tune (at a different tuning company) is $600 and with the CAPA tune you have to pay for the box and then the custom tune, so I'm thinking up around a grand...? That (not hitting boost) musta been hard!! Realisticly, I'd be happy with anything over 350hp, and I wanna keep it all running safe as I'm only 19 and I drive it nearly every day. My best mates dad actually owns SureShift Automatics at Geebung and he said he will strengthen if for me. I haven't really spoken to him much about it.. but what else do I need done to it so that it doesn't die? Thanks heaps for the info guys, really informative!! Keep it coming!!

Hey guys. I've got a couple of questions about tuning and mods, etc. Excuse my lack of knowledge (and probably ignorance) but I'm relatively new to this. Currently, on my 4speed BA XR6 Turbo I've got a BA Typhoon cooler and Typhoon lower box installed with K&N air filter. I'm planning on getting a full exhaust, fuel pump, possibly injectors (pending money) and a re-tune. Being a full time student I'm not rolling in the cash, so I was planning on doing it part by part, and installing the parts (apart from injectors) myself, with the help of friends. Question is, if I buy the exhaust and pump and throw them on myself would I be risking a lot driving around in an un-tuned car? I've heard it can run pretty lean? If need be, we can install the exhaust and pump a day or two prior to the tune and 'baby' the car from my house to RDP Motorsport (half hour drive), would that be alright? Also, I was planning on going down the VCM road instead of the Capa box. I can't really warrant/afford the money for a Capa box, and if I do (for some reason) need to change the tune RDP is only a half hour drive away. Can anybody foresee any problems with this? Finally, what sort of power am I looking at with these mods and a custom tune? Before you ask, I will be speaking to RDP about this, it's just I'd rather do it in real life (lol, irony) then over the phone and that's a bit hard at the moment with no licence. You have a tennis ball on your window. OT. I just picked up a set of these the same as yours but are yet to put them in. I hope they're not too low, but still look lowered (if that makes sense). If you want it slammed and are in Brisbane, go and see QLDs Best Wheels and Tyres. He will get it as low as you want for $500 bucks. Dropped my best mates ute (55HHH) on Pedders Extreme Lows and it's insane.

Hey guys. A bloke off another forum is selling a an ExForce exhaust off his BA Ute, it doesn't come with a dump (it bolts up about 15cms from the turbo) the rest of the system is 3 inch except for the cat which is 4 inch. I pmed him and told him I'm keen etc. but then realised it was off a ute and told him I didn't think it'll fit and he replied with; What do you guys think? Is it worth buying this and getting it modified to fit my car and chucking a dump on after? If you could shed some light that'd be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Michael.

Hey guys, I had a little bit of a go at searching but couldn't come up with anything. Do King Springs from an AU Falcon fit in a BA Falcon? Also, does anybody know the numbers for King Springs Super Super Low (rear) and Super Low (front)? It's for a sedan. Much appreciated, Michael.
