  1. I also use Magnatec 10w-40, after recommendation from a Ford dealer. The only oil I have found to meet the Ford spec (in the BA Series Handbook) of WSE-M2C905-A is the formula by Penrite HPR 10, a 10w-50 Grade. Is a semi synthetic and has a good viscosity index as well as a High TBN. The higher the Viscosity the better for bearings, the higher the TBN the better the control over keeping the inside's clean. Go www.penrite.com.au and have a read of their TDS. Am currently running oil in AU wagon six, and compared to 5w-30 I used prevuosly no drop off in fuel economy. I plan on using this oil when due to change. Regards xrhp5
  2. Ford Oil is packed by Mobil.
  3. Would recommend Castrol Magnatec, is 10w-40, Dealers use Castrol FMX 15w-40 but not available to the Public.
  4. Thanks guy's the T goe's into Ford tomorrow to have leak fixed, shall tell tomorrow what the problem is, it's definately from the oil return pipe from the Turbo. Mentioned to dealer tonight they wont scratch it , reply, hope not. Gives great confidence.
  5. Thanks Vik found that post.
  6. Have any of you guy's notice a small oil leak directly below the Turbo. Some 4 weeks ago I notice some cruddy oil combined with road grime on the hose's running near the alternator, got a torch and looked between the water resevoir and the Turbo, directly below the Turbo sitting on top of the alloy cross member, was some old oil and road grime. I took to this with some detergent and cleaned it all up. Have been checking for a leak and now have some small drops of oil which is now becoming larger, not a lot but it will have to be seen to. Has any other owner detected a leak, you will need a torch to see the area. Shine the torch between the water reservoir and the Turbo looking for the top of the Alloy cross member, would be interested for some feedback. Regards Jeff White.
  7. At a rough guess cruise K's would be 120.

    OIL CHANGE

Would change oil at 5000 K's myself or if you dont do K's definately at least twice a year. Regardless of using Mineral or Synthetic, as both types of oil still collect crud from motor. xrhp6

    OIL CHANGE

Definately bring motor up to operating temperature then change oil and filter, ramps are OK. Recommended to me is to use Castrol Magnatec, agree change oil regulary to remove crud from motor, especially turbos. 15000 K's is to long between changes. Regards xrhp6
  12. Ford Dealers who use Castrol, I am told use Castrol FMX which is synthetic, not available to the public, I intend to use Castrol Magnatec 10w-40 as advise by Castrol and Ford Dealer. Have currently in motor FUSCH Performance Plus, appears to be good oil has synthetic additives, am using to flush out any crud. Interesting that a Turbo dealer recommends Castrol GTX3. What oil do others recommend. 15000 K's is to long between changes. When looking at Tech Data Sheets on oil's look at the ACEA rating, A1 Fuel Economy Petrol A2 Standard Performance level A3 High Performance and / or extended drain. B1 Fuel Economy Deisel B2 Standard performance level B3 High Performance and / or extended drain B4 For direct injection passenger car diesel E1 Non Tyrbo charged light duty E2 Standard performance level E3 High Performance extended drain E4 Higher performance and longer extended drain E5 (1999) High performance and longer drain plus American/Api performances. GOOD READ is Engine Oils what you need to know, www.chris-longhurst.com/engineoil_bible.htm1 Regards xrhp6
  13. Important article on oil testing comparison's of synthetic oils carried out on a Dyno here in Melbourne, those considering oil change should read. Appears that a light weight oil such as an 0w-40 or 5w-40 could damage motor till warmed up. Would recommend that Manafacturers oil be used at all times. http://www.performanceoilnews.com/oils_against_oils.shtml Have just purchased an 12/02 XR6T and are thankfull that someone else has taken the depreciation. Regards xrhp6
