  1. Wife and I are looking to move to a 7-seater SUV/Soft Roader. We've been for a drive in both the Mazda CX-9 and the FPV F6X and we both like each of them for the ride/drive performance. Obviously the F6X has my tick for power. The sticking point at the moment is the 7-seater access and the ease with which the 3rd row seats can be put up. The CX-9 is very slick in this regard. Open the back, pull on a strap and up they come. The FPV (as with the Territory 3rd Row) is quite a lot more involved. First you need to put the 2nd row seat forward (which has to be done for ingress/egress anyway), then reach to the centre of the 3rd row seat (top) and pull the handle and lift. Then through to the back, you need to lift the floor storage flap and push the seat base forward. Now I don't think that the 3rd row seats will be used a huge amount (we have 3 kids + their friends) and my wife believes my eldest will be relegated to the 3rd row at all times to reduce the in-fighting between him and his slightly younger sister. The CX-9 also allows for the 3rd seats to be put up one at a time, meaning if on of the 3rd row seats was up permanently, there would still be plenty of room in the back for school bags, groceries etc. From reading reports on the CX-9 however, the middle seat in the 2nd row is very uncomfortable and narrow, and on long trips when the boot is full of luggage, this will come back to haunt us. Anyway out there who wishes to wade in and provide any more fores/against for either car? Cheers Brendan PS> Yes, obviously I do want the F6X, but I'm not the main driver.
  2. Any ideas what size and offset are on the particular TT in question?
  3. G;day mate Yeah, still got SILLBEER. She's still running, but due for a bit of work (clutch slipping for some reason - prematurely, and head getting replaced to sort out tuning problem with original head). Currently in the process of looking at another for the family as we're needing a 7-seater now (have 3 kids, and need room for kids friends on occasion) and the Territory Turbo is sitting towards the top of the list. So just look at what options there are for wheels. Cheers Brendan
  4. @robsey Can you give us some more info on those rims? Make, model, width, offsets? Cheers Brendan
  5. I suppose the important ones would be confirm the offset of the standard 18x7.5 TT/G rim for us, and find out the load rating for the wheel itself. The other clearance information I hope another kind soul will be willing to get their hands dirty and find out the information. Even take some pics of the the inside wheel area would be great. BTW, anyone, what's the standard tyre that comes with the TT/G (ie. make and placard)? Cheers Brendan
  6. Unfortunately the BMW rim won't fit. The offsets could be little out, and the PCD is 5/120, not 5/114.3.
  7. Another option could have been the Mazda CX-9 wheel but due to highly gay offsets, it's out. They are 20x7.5+45, and the load ratings would probably be similar. Tyre diameter though is much greater at 752.85mm. A best fit tyre on the 20x7.5 would be around the 235/45R20 with only a +0.53% diameter increase. Of course you'd need to fit 10mm bolt on spacers for it to look anywhere near decent which would defeat the purpose. Back to searching...
  8. Certainly check the specs in the back of the cars user manual and see if there's any of the unknown information in there. The clearances could be found out by getting on your back with a ruler and seeing what sort of clearances there are (from the rim, not the tyre as the tyre is variable). Otherwise, it looks as though Senna would be a great option...Senna? And yeah, I did notice your couple of posts about wheel options. I'm a little hesitant to take the Tempe type route with rims, as they all seem to be chrome heavy ugly rims. I want something that's factory look but bigger and wider if I was ever to upgrade a TT/G. Even looking to the Japanese wheel makers and their custom order 3 piece type rims where you can order in the right offset, width, diameter and some cases brake clearance as well. Something like this on a black territory in 20" and lowered 40mm would look pretty schmick. I'd have to find out wheel load ratings first though. http://www.rd-tanabe.com/lineup/vienna/lm9/index.html BTW, I went and had a look at what sizes and offsets BMW does use on their X5 and found a handy page with all the wheel options: http://www.autoguide.net/apf/bmw-wheels_rims/x5-catalog.html Cheers Brendan
  9. G'day All There's been a number of threads in here about what wheels and tyres etc are right for the TT and TTG but as yet I haven't seen a definitive set of specs for size, offset pcd, outside rolling diameter, wheel load rating, tyre load rating, inside wheel/tyre clearance and outside wheel/tyre clearance. Basically it's all these things that will allow one to work out what will fit and stay within 'code' so to speak. So with a view to finding out this information this is what I have so far for the standard specs for current TT and TTG: Wheel Specifications: - Size: 18" x 7.5" - PCD: 5/114.3 (5 x 4.5") - Offset: +36.5 (requires confirmation) - Load Rating: Unknown - Weight: Unknown Tyre Specifications: - Size: P235/55 R18 - Rolling Diameter: 715.51mm (28.17") - Load Rating/Index: 102 (850kg) Clearance: - Inside Front: Unknown - Inside Rear: Unknown - Outside Front: Unknown - Outside Rear: Unknown For those items marked unknown, it would be great if someone with a standard TT or TTG could provide the info if they have it or can measure it. Once all this is known, it will be much easier to at least determine rim size and offset along with appropriate tyre sizes that would fit. Here's the place I used to determine the tyre diameter: http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp And to work out optimum offsets for aftermarket rims based on clearance on inside and outside, I've used this in the past: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp The ultimate tyre wheel/tyre fitment IMHO at the moment is the BMW X5. Even in 19" the package gives the vehicle that 'Hot Wheels' miniature car look. To achieve something similar on a TT or TTG would be great. Cheers Brendan PS> I don't own a TT or TTG currently, but with my wife looking for a 7 seater alternative to her BMW 740iL sometime in the next 12mths, and me being a gear head who loves turbo cars (see my own at http://www.sillbeer.com/), the TT or TTG is the best option currently available. But the wheel options are a big sticking point for me at the moment.
