Hi first time reply to this forum have 2004 XR6T in regards to about heat shield rubbing noticed that a bolt had almost fully removed itself from a bracket leading to the turbo on left hand side of turbo. Found most bolts on exaust manifold finger lose mainly on outside. this is probably your problem. I never expected this from a car that had never really been mistreeted. I did single bolt on to turbo very firm and used a tourque wrench to set at 27 nm this is hiher than recomended but have taken into acconut of extnsion required to do job. Hope this help u.
