Bf2 Standard Exhaust

Just been crawling around under the new BF2 after some discussion on the Team Octane thread about the much changed exhaust note.

First thing that struck me was this is not the cat convertor that was on the BA...

vitals as follows: 3" in, 3" out. 6" in length. 'Pyramid' shape.

Presume this is same as the standard BF1?

Rest of the system is the same - 3" single into twin 2 1/4.....

Im pretty sure something with the cat is differnent then the BA's. I had my BF1, now gotta add the 1, hoisted up the other day and the cat appears to sit further forward. To add extractors the cat has to be moved back a few inches for some reason and upgrading the cat causes issues with the engine mamnagement, according to the local exhaust experts.

And your photos look different to my cat.

Your correct. The cat on BF's is different to BA's.

So if we take a look at the work done by ExtremeF6 in the following thread - are we still reasonably certain this new design cat a/ started with BF1 and b/ only runs 300cfm? Just trying to do some sums prior to .

Johnny, so how does your system split into twin 2.25" - just via a typical 'Y' piece? On the BA's, doesn't the system split at/within the cat ie. 3" in, twin 2.25" out?

correct mate heres a photo of a mk1 BA XR6T cat.

No - not any more - pipe you can see coming toward the camera is heading rearwards in a single 3", then splits into the Y and the twin 2 1/4ers after about 40cm (??) - I'll do some measurements and throw some pix up later......

Bugster - here's the pix.

3" piece from the cat to the Y is 29cm.

Which also means that the 75mm pipe is about 11.5 inches in length.
