Front Speakes Really Quiet

Featured Replies

hi all, I installed a sub and amp on the weekend and I amped my rear speakers to. It was all working fine but all of a sudden my front speakers have gone really quiet. My sub and rear speakers a working perfectly but as I said my fronts are really quiet. When I fade all the way to the front its the same thing. I didnt touch the front speakers/wires whatsoever so what could be my problem?

cheers Jacob

So you put in an amp and a sub, amped the sub and only the rears or fronts as well? What sort of amp have you got and what's it hooked up to? As in aftermarket headunit via rcas or hooked into the factory cd player? The gains haven't been set incorrectly or if you haven't touched the fronts at all then you sure it's just not the fact that the unamped fronts arnt getting the same amount of power as the rears hence being quieter

The head unit play's funny buggers when it has mismatching loads. When I tried to put some 8 ohm mids in the doors they were also very quiet.

A lot of people complain about noise issues in these. I have found that sourcing a significant load from the headunit provides a much better S/N ration than is typical of aftermarket systems in FG's. Again, I think that there is some 'smarts' on the output side of the OEM head unit that protect the op amp output stage.
