E-Series Xr8

So ive sold off the xr6 turbs to much of a dissapointment but as im getting married im in need of the funds.

Now im looking at purchasing a XR8. An EF or EL series.

The problem is ofcourse that most of them have around 200,000kms on the clock..

What you reckon? I was so close to buying the below one but it got sold...

What do people think of the e-series 8's? decent? good price? etc? Your thoughts?

Make sure you get the later updated EL with the explorer manifold & better heads. The earlier ones are touch gutless.

do you know the build date for those?

I think they kicked off late 97 & into 98. I dont know the exact month but they are easy to identify. Just look for a squarish looking manifold rather than a roundish one.

hmm ok ill have to do some more research... but what about high kms?

As long as its serviced regulary 200000 kays shouldnt be a drama as the little Windsor is pretty tough. Mines got about 164 on the clock & the oils still clear & the motors quiet.

I had an EFII and started to have problems around 200kms... Harmonic balancer, alternator (expensive on Windsor!!!) etc...

Why did you end up unsatisfied with a T?

el series 2 got the 185kw motor. get the xr6 mate a tad quiker then the xr8. my old el xr6 is up 4 sale atm. but his asking $13000 last time I saw

No they didn't... Only late model engines that were going into AU... Had 185 badges on them...
