Brand New, And Air Con Knackered Already !

raining hard tonight and aircon hasnt worked since we got it (I dont think) checked fuses, and compressor isnt turning ! windows all fogged up and very dangerous ! pissed off to say the least ! any ideas before I go to ford ???

yeah I will get onto them but since its pissing and I cant open windows without getting soaked, I was looking for ideas to any quick fixes(known)to get it working like a certain fuse or whatever . bloody nightmare , like sitting in a steamroom at a health spa !

all controls seem to be working ok, just that compressor isnt kicking in as it should. this happened on an older car I had when there was no gas in the system. I'll look in the little spyglass in the morning.

There is a known problem with the FG with the HIM unit. You need to get Ford to replace it.

yeah, will get onto them... how does this HIM issue manifest itself ? everything seems to be working ok apart from air con compressor not kicking in ? but the HIM would control this too I am sure.

Either HIM module or low on gas.I have replaced 2 HIM modules in 3000klms and also needed topping up with gas from factory.Its like an igloo now.

cool(no pun intended) I called the fleet sales guy at Q ford, his car done the same last week apparently, so told me there was a batch of these things faulty and to just book it in for a new one or checkover for gas etc. service dept is closed up here in pacific ford at the weekend so will call them monday morning. seems its very common.

Just got my car back from Ford where they replaced the HIM. It said it was a recall on the receipt and I asked the service guy and he said it was a recall only if it broke. Aparently the new part is an improved version which is what makes it a recall.

My car wasn't blowing out the dash vents.

ours is working on all acounts apart from nto getting cold. compressor isnt kicking in but wife said it was working this morning so I am off out to check it now, either way, its going in for a new one !

EDIT, just had a look, compressor is now working, still not igloo cold and its a mere 20 deg outside so should almost produce ice with that intake temp. so off to ford it goes soon.

my uncle's fg f6 aircon went yesterday as well, seems like ford needs to do a recall it looks like it's happing 2 alot of fg's. that's not all 19000kms sterring rack making noise,left rear window not working,left wheel brake pads down to half when right looks brand new, and thermo fan went on but did not turn off,fixed under warranty but what next, mind you went from a hsv to this and I think he's regreting it.
