I have an AU Cryo treated planetary set in my box, they have held up for 2 years with 300rwkw. apparently the AU gearsets are actually softer, less brittle, less prone to shearing / chipping teeth.

about to get my box serviced, will see what the condition is like.

I have a perfect set of BA planetary gears, including drum available, if you're interested.

They were taken from a near new box 10-15,000kms - at standard power, when I had my box strengthened, I replaced them as a precaution.

Having said that, im not sure the AU gears are necessarily better, Im a firm believer that these boxes can be made to handle pretty big power and torque, "if tuned correctly". Allot to do with ramping rates, line pressures, shift firmness, torque reduction on shifts etc.

Your right about the AU gears. I heard the exact same stuff, softer etc.....

PM me about the gearset.

My BTR built by RVO has held 315-370rwkw for 2+ years now and it still feels crisp. It has been setup with a lot of line pressure both in the tune and in the box. It bangs pretty hard when shifting but this has no doubt helped it cope for so long.

Also, the AU planets have less teeth and therefore each tooth is beefier.

qikin. As soon as I heard dion has a 9 sec BTR holding...I had to go. Came at a good time as I was lookin for a good auto tuner. Since other rejects I took it to couldnt provide what I needed, I made the effort to travel to dion.

With my bayswater build 4sp and dion's tune, showing 350rwkw on his low reading dyno...everything feels awesome. And I have kicked the crap out of the box. Even brake boosting off roll starts and it doesnt complain. Been about 2 months of weekly abuse and stil going strong.

O.K thanks guys for the comments.

Box goin in for a rebuild 2morrow.

Between the Tuner and the Transmission builders I think I have a good combo.

As for the gearset going... well I put it down to just plain bad luck.

Anyway, car still drives fine and after rebuild, back to how it should be.
