After having been treated like that, I strongly suggest you lodge a formal complaint with Ford about that dealer. Include copies of your car order etc.

Not only will ford be pissed off that the dealer is being shonky and ripping you off, but the dealer is also ripping FoMoCo off because the $$$ they should be taking in for Ford options are being diverted to nasty cheaper alternatives.

The fact that all these changes have been made means they know they were sprung.

Complain, and hopefully Ford will look into it and bust ass if these dealers are ripping off lots of loyal Ford customers. Its not beyond them to have a staff member place a similar order with that dealer and to closely check what was ordered against what was delivered.

A note: in future if you suspect a dealer is dodgy, for Gods sake dont go back to them. Go to another proper dealer for a 2nd opinion, and if things seem wrong, compain direct to Ford in writing, asking for them to inspect the vehicle and check it complies to what should have been delivered.

I did in fact contact Ford customer service early on in the piece to find out what their take on the matter was and what my rights were from their perspective.

To paraphrase, the person I spoke to indicated that Ford couldn't give a stuff, that the dealers have the right to sell and fit what they like and that basically the issue was between me and the dealer. I got the impression it was not the first complaint of this type they had received.

This response set me back a little so I gave a little speech using words like fraud and the department of fair trading and Ford's reputation and the media which seemed to change his tone slightly in that he told me if I did not get satisfaction from the dealer to contact Ford again. He also took my name and number but no one has bothered to follow up.

I did not mention this previously in the thread in case someone from the dealership happened to be a member of the forum as with all the information I have given it would be pretty easy to know who I was and the threat of my going to Ford would have been pretty meaningless.

As far as getting additional compensation goes I had planned on trying to get a good deal on a spare alloy out of them and probably would have had a good shot at it except for one thing, my wife who hasn't had an accident for ten years managed to put a mark on their loan car so now I'm potentially up for the $1k excess, though they have said they will do the right thing by me so hopefully it will only be $300 or so. Ok so stop laughing everyone it's really not funny

To add insult to injury on the weekend some ar$ehole has put a paint chip and very slight dent on the rear wheel arch, had I caught them in the act I'm pretty sure I'd be up for murder about now. Any suggestions on how and where to get this repaired in Sydney would be appreciated!

Oh well I'm off to a dark room to rock in the corner in the foetal position till my luck changes

In the spirit of keeping fellow members informed and wary of these suspect practices, I think you should name the dealership. That is the only way to stop this sort of practice.
