hi guys. havin a few lil problems with my new setup

basicly im running the following...

process west plenum kit (not the race)

process west surge tank

62lb injectors

4" xforce exhaust with the 3.5 single catback

etm external gate kit with screamer (slightly modified to move gate so as not to foul on dump)

being tuned with vcm

basicly what we have got is this, it will make 17psi of boost off gate pressure and then drop off to 13-14psi. we have tried using a ball and spring style tap to control boost and stil no success.

we have tried it with the cat removed and same scenario

we have played with the timing to see it that was affecting it and still same scenario

we have not tried it with the ford standard ebc though being external gate it should still hold pressure / control boost

is there possibly something in the vcm program that needs to be disabled when not using the ford boost controller

anyone able to tell me what we have missed?? is it likely to be a dud gate?

any help would be much appriciated

regards adam

there is your problem. the ball and tap boost controls are crap at the best of times. grab a electronic boost control and see how you go.

and please don't buy a turbosmart EBoost as there are crap............. personal experiences saw me lunch many engines.

try a GReddy Profec or E01 boost controller.

hope that helps

What psi spring is it it?

When I had the gt45 on the old BA, I first had a 7psi spring, using profecB to control, with 15psi dialed in it would slowly get to 15psi (at 4500rpm which sucked) but fall back to 13.

Fitted a 20psi spring, bypasses the profec so just on spring rate, and had a flat 20psi from about 3500 up

In my case I belive the 7psi spring was just to soft, the 20 was too high but did fix the slow uneven boost issue... a 15psi spring was going to be my next one to try.

May not be the same deal with yours, but that's what I found anyway.
