Hi All.

I am looking at getting a G6ET very soon (won't be built until later in the year) and was wondering if anyone had put theirs on the gas? I currently have a BA Fairmont Ghia V8 on Injection LPG and get better fuel economy and more power when it is on the gas.

Just after some advise from the experienced people here.

Regards

Warren

First of all welcome. As far as fuel economy goes, my car still averages 13.5 ltrs/100kms. I drive every day in peak morning and afternoon traffic around Sydney suburbs and the last 2 months in heavy Sydney CBD traffic. Not as good as my previous E90 325 (12.8) but not that far off. I think the adr combined cycle is 11.7ltrs/100kms.

I got a direct injection gas conversion put onto my G6ET 6 weeks ago and so far very happy with it. I'm not sure what the fuel economy is but it only costs me half as much as petrol.

It costs me about $23 to fill gas tank (at about 45c per litre) and it gets me about 250ks around town. Heaps more than that on a trip.

There is a noticeable difference in power when you drive it hard, but around town you would never know. The drop in power doesn't really phase me cos when I want power I just switch it back to petrol.

If you are going to convert your car look into LIQUID INJECTION (just google it), I wish I had known about it before I converted my car to normal direct injection. Its being claimed you actually get more power than petrol!! As far as I understand its because the lpg is injected as a liquid, it converts back to gas as soon as its injected which cools the engine and hence more air into the engine.

Ford are actually introducing liquid injection into all their dedicated gas range as of next year.

Hope this helps!

That is the system I have on my current V8 Ghia and yes, there is more power and better economy on gas. I am surprised they didn't install that system on your car as it has been around for at least 4 years. The new system will cost me a bit over $3000 after my rebate, but as I am packaging it over five years with the car the cost is no problem! :-)

Thanks for all the info guys. The G6ET seems to get better economy than my old Ghia , AND is faster...
