Clunk Into First?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have my Car into the FORD dealership today due to a few things:

DSC light came on as an error temporarily.... (since has gone off)

Reverse sensors stopped working and no longer killed the music when in reverse.

Transmission clunking into first when I come up to some stop lights.

I have a tow pack for the G6e turbo and the little black flap that covers connector broke off and apparently that has some magnet in it which causes the rear sensors to stop working when you have a trailer on and apparently this caused the DSC error as well. Just need to re-attach it some-how. or pay $90 for a new one!

The transmission however, the guy was saying it was "pretty normal". Now this wasn't happening when I got the car and since then has developed.

Any of you G6e turbo owners experience a slight clunk when coming to a stop. (I guess when it changes to first)

Cheers.

Gday Mate,

Mine now has just over 12,000klms on it and don't have the tow pack, so can't comment there.

However, I do notice mine will harshly change back into 1st gear if I'm on an incline and say the car is in 2nd, when I go to accelerate, yes, there is a bit of a harsh change back into first. This I imagine is the gearbox trying to hold the current gear it's in while coasting up the incline. it's only when I accelerate that it changes down and the harsh change occurs.

I also have the dreaded timing cover oil leak (only minor) and will have fixed at the 15,000ks service. Apparently pretty coomon on early builds, due to the numbnuts on the assembly line putting the incorrect length bolts in.

Other than the warped glovebox lid issue (also apprently common on them) and occasional non operation of the reverse camera (only done it two or three times) everything else is great. I really love the car in general and have no major complaints.

Cheers
