Click Clack Sound

Hi Guys

This is really worrying me. I am getting a "click clack"sound whenever I start my car. It seems to be coming from underneath the car.I think from front. Recently the car went through transmission service. The dealership had tro change the radiator since the oil got mixed into coolant. I am just getting worried that the car is coming to a stage where it needs a transmission gear box change.

Hey XR I dont know about the click clack but the oil in the coolant thing is a worry. Is your car under warranty? Did they change the trans oil aswell? Quite often when the radiators fail coolant can get in the trans and vice versa. When it happened to mine I had Ford change the transmission for a new one. Took a bit of a fight to get the trans change but if coolant gets in the trans eventually the trans will be screwed.

Check your warranty as FORD will have all sorts of excuses & try to worm their way out of having to pay for repairs .Personal experience with the same problem. Apparently when the trans oil & coolant mix it delaminates the clutch material in the trans & ruins the soleniods. The radiator & heater hoses, & any other hoses should also be replaced. Did they flush out the trans & replace trans fluid. Allmost impossible to flush out all contamination even after several tries should be stripped down & cleaned out (trans & torque converter) & vunerable parts replaced. Make sure you have recorded all that was done & said by repairers & Ford, (written statments) so you have concrete evidence to back up a claim in the future if the trans becomes faulty due to this contamination. Write a letter to Ford & Dealer stating your concerns about the effect of this contamination & future performance of your trans. Send registered letters, ask for confomation of reciept of letters & keep copies of everything.

They will probably say the contamination was not in the trans long enough to effect it, but this is an unknown factor & nobody can say for sure,only time & use will tell.This is a common fault in the BA & should have had a Ford recall to rectify it
