Intercooler

Hi guys... I have a mechanically standart 03 XR6t ute... I am getting it flash tuned in a couple of weeks, I am working to a budget as this is going to be my daily driver, I am looking to buy one of those monza coolers to go with the tune... however, I have heard some bad things about them, but I have also heard some good things if your not going for big horse power...

my question is... is the monza cooler going to be ok with the flash tune??

AND

what sort of power figure could I expect to make with this set up??

I have a BA also.

Your injectors and valve springs will be your first restriction.

Then your cat, and probably your actuator spring will be as soft as a slinky.

They are my experiences.

Don't worry about the end power result, it varies from car to car.

What's your budget?

yeah, I have been told all about the mk1 problems haha... I dont really want to spend more than 2 grand on it... just a bit of boost so that its not a slug haha...

your tune should net you 230-250rwkws without any other changes.a monza cooler is probably not a total waste of money as they do flow better than a standard unit and they do have a bigger surface area.they look ok if you paint the upper end tank black so you cant see it in your top grill.

they are what they are, a cheap cooler that performs a little bit better than standard and adds a bit of polished alloy to the front of your t.if your after 300rwkws dont bother.save up and get a decent setup from rapid etc.if you are staying with just a custom tune then why not.

Get an F6 air box plus a k&n filter. These come up on the for sale section from time to time and are a cheap mod.
