March 1, 200917 yr #21 Jammers prevent a handheld device (laser etc) from reading a vehicles speed & are against the law everywhere, but are not detectable afaik. They are not able to jam multinova's.Wrong!Jammers are legal to own & even have operational on your car, but it is illegal to interfere with the coppers handheld guns etc. Once you jam them you break the law, but you have to be caught using them If anyone is interested in a high end kit that is tried & tested, look for a Beltronics RX 75 Pro (remote mount) with theoptional front & rear jammer kit & external speaker upgrade. They are around $3k but worth their weight in gold & some...I'll be having mine re-fitted to the Phoon next week after having it in my XR for a while
March 1, 200917 yr #22 There are radar detector detectors in NSW, don't know if all police cars are equipped with them but a friend of mine was caught with one. the police car was checking speed on the other side of the highway and as he wasn't speeding he didn't slow down and after few hundered meters they pulled him over and told him to hand over the radar detector (no questions asked) he was stunned. Made me feel a little guilty as I sold him the detector .In regards to P platers, if you really want to drive a turbo go to WA, get you license there, register your car there and go back to vic and live as normal , just don't go nuts with mods. But then again driving a non turbo car for few years might even be good for you.
March 1, 200917 yr #23 Although I think you may need to have a WA residential address Wrong! This is why when we talk about stuff we use a disclaimer AFAIK.
March 1, 200917 yr #24 You were corrected so what's the problem? You've just added 2 posts to your count by dribbling in here & not offering any factual evidence/accounts/experiences... Post whore
March 1, 200917 yr #25 Combine a jammer & detector and you are 99% un-touchable. Make the detector one of the high end un-detectable units and then you're safe from being busted for having a detector/jammer.You think so?? 99%.I.B.
March 1, 200917 yr #26 Legal or not in other states, they sell them and fit them in WA WA land, and radar detectors are definately legal. Heres the linky http://www.radars.com.au/ In the vid on the site they show firing a hand held laser at a car fitted with a jammer, but it doesn't actually jam anything, it flicks on automatically and replicates the beam, thereby cancelling it out.I'm going to fit one on tuesday, but I wouldn't try one in a state where they are outlawed as I have heard the fines are massive Edited March 1, 200917 yr by hypnodoc
March 1, 200917 yr #27 You think so?? 99%.I.B.I'd put money on that, agreeing with Kael...I have the runs on the board so to speak :o
March 1, 200917 yr #28 :oYou think so?? 99%.I.B.Umm, yeah The only other ways to be pinned from memory would be fixed point-to-point speed calculators or being talegated & manually speed recorded by a cop car.I believe they also have spotter aircraft in North America that can measure & calculate distance/time to get speed between two points... But this aint' North America Correct me if I'm wrong, but with a jammer/detector setup, your sh*t out of luck I.B?
March 2, 200917 yr #29 btw just to let you guys know, you CAN drive a turbo on your p's here in vic, aslong as its a TDi, ive seen a fair amount of P platers on turbo diesel hilux's and stuff and its perfectly legal to drive them. pretty stupid I know, but hey its the government. I found out through the vicroads website also, I cant find the link cos it was a while ago but its there somewhere.
March 2, 200917 yr #30 Yeah I knew that.. I thought everybody did >.<, But yeah they are, Still unsure if my old man's Landcruiser V8 Twin Turbo is legal for me to drive or not
