Naturaly I want the car to sound good too, so I'm a bit sceptical about off the shelf systems, as I've heard some sh!t sounding xr turbo's & n/a's getting around. I think now I just have to decide what to do 1st, I have a pretty good idea of where I'm headed.Should probably collect all the parts, and do it in one go, cos I don't wanna have to retune too many times! There are a few who are not entirely happy with the sound and quality of the finish, but there are people that are happy with it too.CES, SMB, THR, the Nizpro exhaust (being released soon) and probably even diffilipo (sp?) are all off the shelf items that are of a good quality. Just expect to pay a little more for them. If your looking for a full custom system, I would expect it to be of a similar cost to a good quality off the shelf system! In regards to having a good idea of where your headed, to me it doesnt sound like you do. One minute your talking about rebuilding your engine and wanting plazmaman stuff, the next a wog cooler??I would advise you spend your money on good quality items first time that will give you enough headroom to make further mods in future without needing to replace components a second time. Learn from the mistakes a lot of us have made and do it right first go!It would be a good idea and would minimise tuning costs to collect your parts and getting everything done at once as opposed to doing things in stages! You clearly have a lot to learn (which is fine by the way... we all started out similar to you) but make sure you read plenty of info on here about different products etc before ya go spending on bits that might not be good enough! Good luck with it. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/54422-difference-between-edit-tune/page/4/#findComment-829807 Share on other sites

I've been working like mad for 18 months now to save and repay some debts, and thought I would be well on my way. After reading all your advice, I decided to see how much money I had to spend on the car so I could make a start, and it turns out I have none.Went through the books the other weekend and I seem to have gotten nowhere, or at least, not very far.So I start a new job this week, and will look at moving closer to work if it all works out, so I'll be earning more and spending less. But I still have to wait another year before plans get off the ground :(So I have one more question; Would it be worth getting the car tuned without all the mods?? I'm thinking I might be able to get a little bit more power out of it, and maybe enjoy it a little while I'm saving. Will I save a bit of fuel by doing this? Can't realy justify it if I won't...Thanks again for all the help and advice, and sorry for waisting all your time.Cheers,Craig.
