I've heard they can get problems in the back leg/hip area because of the build a size. Thanks Guys Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/53478-boxers-opinions/ Share on other sites

Gonna get a big red boy!Problems - Its quite common for them to get growths and cancers that need to be cut out or at least tested and treated. They can also often have heart murmours (sp?) or heart problems. Most qualified breeders have all the studs and bitches heart tested so if you buy from a reputable breeder, this decreases the chances of heart problems.Another smaller problem is that they often have some pink on their noses and they can get pretty badly sunburnt so if they have pink on their face, it needs to be taken care of and looked after properly!I would definately recommend proper puppy training. For the first 2 years as pups, they can be a nightmare if they get bored. They dig in the garden and break through open windows flyscreens, chew shoes and furniture etc. The one we have now was properly trained and she is as good as gold. Never have a problem with her obidience. Can walk her without a lead and she wont run off, is friendly and playful with other dogs and is just a great pet with an awesome temperament. They are a dog that require a lot of regular excercise. At least 2 hours daily, and if they dont get it, they get bored and play up! This could be seen as a problem if you dont have that amount of spare time to commit to walking them, it could also be a blessing for you and your partners general fitness.I havent heard of many having problems with hips, mainly rotties and german shepherds that get this...On the whole mate, they are such loyal pets. Contrary to popular belief, they are very smart however, they often act as though they are stupid/thick (will just run into stuff that may hurt them lol!). They are very, very good with children and babies. Also good with females/girlfriends and tend not to try and dominate at all. I personally wouldnt get another breed of dog. Maybe if I lived in a small place with no garden or an apartment (would get a british bulldog or pug lol) but Boxers are fantastic. If you show them love, affection and commitment, they will give it back to you tenfold.Iv got heaps more to say, but this should be enough for now. Any questions, feel free to ask!Cheers,Your resident Boxer lover - Scott! All too often, people buy them without researching and find out that they dont have the time/effort to walk them for 2 hours a day and have to hand them back. Boxer rescue take them in until they find a new owner. You will also find that proper breeders will absolutely grill you before you purchase one. They will not sell one to you if they dont think you are right for a boxer!
