Couple of questions on this:

1) I notice quite a few of you have added the plastic headlight covers to your XR6Ts. I was of the understanding that the headlights were a Polycarbonate (or similar) that did not need protection from stones etc? Have I been given the wrong information ?

2) I see some of you have fitted the 3M self adhesive film to your Foggies, now that it's been on for a while, what is the feeling - is it working well ? I fitted some to my wife's car's foggies some months ago - and apart from it being a pain in the @* to fit - the end result is near enough to invisable.

I got the head light protectors because I wasn't aware that the lights didn't need them, but mainly because the sales guy gave them to me.

I would like to get fog light protectors, but I'm not sure which ones and how the ones in use already are going ... waiting a while on this, hope I don't crack a light while I'm waiting. :tears:

hey guys, I just bought protectors from Autobahn, cost me $25. I was wondering if anyone has the exact measurements for the foggies. Its night time now and I had a quick look at it, I put a cd over them to see if a cd's size is close enough, but it seemed like the fog light wasnt exactly a perfect circle. I might be wrong but because it was dark as. Does anyone have any idea about this?

The head lights are polycarbonate so the protectors are not realy required...but they make good GP on them at the dealers so they continue to push them. Grim/leaf catchers IMO. The foggies are suseptable to damage though, with some already havein g to replace broken ones. Some members have made up covers or used the 3M film with some sucess.

As the replacement headlight is pretty ekxy, I thought WTF when the dealer chucked them in for nothing,

Although I would have paid if had to. :D

And they are so easy to remove for cleaning too

Im with Silverhawk.

I do heaps of country driving and thought the cost of a replacement protector was better than a headlight.. Im happy to leave mine on and remove when its bath time.

I have had protectors on the last few cars I have owned,

I suppose old habits are hard to break.

cause my dad told me once.

SON YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH PROTECTION.

In the AU VCT, the Headlamp protectors saved me some $$$. The headlamp protector cracked in 2 with the impact of a medium size cardboard box travelling at approx 90kmh. It did save the light and further damage to the nose of the car.

Hey these lights may be made of 'polycarbonate' but can you guarantee an impact at 100kms+ is going to keep them intact? The protectors have saved me in the past. IMO they are worth while having if you do a lot of HWY driving like I do. City driving...hmmmm, maybe you don't need them. I happen to like them and it's better to be safe than sorry. How much is the entire light assembly to replace? (as that's the only way it can be replaced, the whole thing). It's pretty exy! :nugget:

I just saw a Merc Silver XR with the head light protectors, got to say it looked pretty good.

Also had an Intercooler grill, fairly small spacing and looked very good I must say.

I think I might be getting both of these when my next service comes along.
