since I bought my t, everynow and then it back fires on start up and pops the vac line off the inlet manifold, since I had it tuned it's only done it once... (today when the missus was drivin it.. maybe that's the prob :spoton: )

the line has always had a bit of oil around/in it.. could it be blow by related?

has any else had this prob ? I've heard a few people running oil catch cans ?

Backfiring wont be caused by blow by. It's more likely due to running lean so check your fuel filter first, then maybe have your pump tested wile under load.

ford have been trying to the fix the same problem on my car for over six months dropped it off today to be looked at even backfired in the service centre driveway in front of 4 or five ford employes but they still arent sure whats causing it

mostly does it on start up every couple of days im thinking its an electrical fault somewhere cause every now and then the speedo doesnt work either im dropping my car off next week and the service manger is gonna drive my car for a week to see what it does im hopping it really f*cks up on him like it has a few times on me back firing high up in the rev range on the high way . the problem is the car will be fine for weeks at a time and sh*t 2 or 3 days in row then fine for a month.

makes it really hard to fix when its doing this without just ripping out all the wiring, computer, sensors and the like which I think they should since it still has 8 plus months of factory warranty its really starting to piss me off

If it was an electrical fault, wouldn't there be an error code logged??

Have you had the fuel filter/pump replaced under warranty yet trevs??

#5

have you put new plugs/gapped since the tune my guess is coil packs/plugs or pump/filter

my car used to do that as well you would try and start it and it would blow the line off and splutter almost like it was only running on 5 cylinders. I just zip tied the vac line on and since I replaced the the plugs and had an edit no issues. It only ever did it twice about 3 weeks apart.

yeah I had new plugs put in when it was tuned, and had all coil packs replaced last month.. I left the cover off that holds them down.. seems they lifted off under boost :beerchug: and I fried a couple lol.. oh well lesson learnt..

its only happened once since the tune. so maybe it;s due 4 newbies...
