Managed to get my hands on a 1998 ute magazine. In it there was this Ford Falcon Longreach XR8 Ute 5.0 litre petrol. Just shows how far the ute has come in 10 years. Back then the XR8 utes are selling at $37,305 plus $2,092 for air con and $705 for 4 speed auto. Its 5.0 litre engine produces 185 kw of power and 402 Nm of torque. The ute sits on P225/50ZR16 tyres, weights 1495 kg. Just thank God that how "affordable" the cars are now a day and how much have improved. 10 years ago, a block of land cost less than the XR8, now for the price of an average block of land, one can buys 4 XR8 if not more. The latest XR8 ute has 290 kw/520 Nm, weights 1840kg, has all the gadgets one could possibly think of and cost much less than 10 years ago.
