Hi

I have a poverty pack BF MKII. No frills stereo.

Considering an in car DVD system either roof mount or rear head rests. Main use is for kids on long trips.

Would consider basic speaker / sound upgrade as factory one is not the best.

Has anyone had any good / bad experiences or ideas for my application? I also imagine these tings cost a bomb which may stop me before I begin.

Don't like the rear seat strap on's which could become missles in even low speed acco.

Thanks for your time.

I have put dozens of roof mount screens in these. set ya back about $1500 for a good alpine or something similar. you probably wouldnt want anything much cheaper than that or it will be junk

we used to install quite a few kenwoods but they discontinued them so we running with the alpines now.

they come with 1 set of infrared headphones but you can purchase more. they also have a built in fm modulator so you can have the sound come thru your car stereo system

PKG-RSE2 is the alpine number

here is the link to alpine's site for it here

If it's for show off value, in car DVD installations are great.

But, if it's just to keep the kids quiet then a couple of portable DVD players are the go. That way they can use them anywhere, not just in one car, and they're cheap.

Thanks for the advice guys.

The portable ones are certainly cheap I just worry about them flying through the cabin in a prang.

Having said that I am sure the roof mounts would probably go for 6 as well.

I am looking at the options suggested at the moment.

have u considered a car computer or is the ability to play DVD all your looking for? Movies come in all sorts of formats these days dvd, blue ray etc. then you have a myriad of other digital formats divX, Avi, Mpg and so on. Having a car computer will allow you to play all video types regardless of their format.

I have not considered this simply as it sounds expensive and hard to sort out.

I am really just trying to keep the kids entertained first off and on the odd occasion my wife / mates as well for the long trips.
