The downside I guess will be same program plays on both TV's but I dont want to pay for a second Foxtel unit.Ok you get a 4x4 matrix switcher that's 4 input 4 out put. Then you you set your 4 inputs as, 1. Foxtel 2. PS3 / Xbox 3. DVD 4.Set top box. If you use all four out puts I would recoment using the PS3 as a DVD player and add a second set top box.You will be able to watch free to air on one tv and foxtel on the other. My set up has 1. Nintendo Wii 2. Foxtel 3. set top box 4. PS3. Trust me if its a decent length run, use cat 5. This is my set up, it runs all 3 T/V's soon to be 4 (when the G/F allows one in the bedroom) Pic was taken with my phone so sorry about the quality Edited 11/06/08 04:38 AM by jimmy1234 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/46163-home-theatre/page/3/#findComment-691558 Share on other sites

Also, what is the unit on the wall to the left of your screen? Do you have front surround speakers at the top of the screen? Are you using 7.1? On the left wall is the DVD play and control unit.I mounted the speakers high for looks more than any thing, I have been told to mount them lower but it just seems to look unbalanced and to busy with them down low. sorry edit....I put a link to a composite switcher....new link is to a component switcher.switcher Edited 11/06/08 06:39 AM by jimmy1234 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/46163-home-theatre/page/3/#findComment-691613 Share on other sites

That sounds like what I need to do. The downside I guess will be same program plays on both TV's but I dont want to pay for a second Foxtel unit.Yep!Easy way to test this and see the outcome...Pull the RF/Coax output cable out of the device its currently plugged into (if any), then pull your antenna coax out of the wall (not the foxtel cable, just the antenna), plug the foxtel cable into the wall as if you are running it in reverse to the antenna...Now go into any other room where there is another tv which is plugged into the wall (antenna socket), and re-tune that tv... remember to tell your foxtel box to output via coax also.. and which band it if on... I think from memory it is UHF....Your TV in the other room should pick up the signal as if it was plugged directly into the Foxtel box itself!that's all... simple...if you want to run a separate internal 'network' (for lack of a better word)... buy a roll of coax, some sockets and plugs, on each outlet drill a hole and run a separate path for each room, you can run it along side the Coax installed in your walls and drill the hole on each of the existing plates you already have... on the back of each device/tv as there will be only one spot to input plug in a $3 splitter and then connect the two coax cables to it...basically in short how the parents place now is wired up...each antenna plate have 2x sockets... one to the outdoor antenna, and one to the foxtel box... back of each device (tv/VCR) has a little splitter so it will have access to the outdoor antenna, and the foxtel box... (u dont need the splitter if you are running only through the same cable as the antenna anyways...)As it runs on its own signal it would have any effect on the free to air channels...except where there is some minor ghosting if the signals are running to close together (frequency)... hence why we run the 2x socket and separate wiring networks at the olds place! From memory it cost about $150 bucks all up.... and a few hours work... there was 2.5 of us working on it... (the old man is the .5)... his hitting 70 this year so cant take to much away from him!As for the RF/IR signal repeater, you can pick these up from your local HIFI store for $150+ depending on how many points you need...All it does - is basically you will have a receiver in each room, the wire run through the wall, then a transmitter in the theater room... Bam your now changing channels!I used to run one at home as I was renting and have the 2nd room ability on the Yamaha RXV3300 Receiver... just ran the wires along the skirts... was good running one type of music in the lounge and another in the courtyard... saved walking in each time we had guests and needed to turn the vol up or down or change the track etc... dont think the owners would have been happy if I started to cut into the walls and ran a full home auto/multi room system...Sold it off ages ago now (otherwise id send it to you).. Got far to much HiFi gear and crap, now sitting in storage... Just use the important gear.. (8.1 setup 50" PDP... blah blah blah... hehehe... half the time invite the neighbors, saves them getting upset about the noise!)Let me know if you need any other help with this, if you decide to go with this plan... I run a dedicated pc with hd tv out of it & ps3 through a denon amp to my ceiling mounted projector. They are all at the back of the room. I run it onto a 100 inch screen. The pc is hard wired to my "downloading and storage" pc in my study.I have recently added Krix speakers & 2 subs.I have 2 2.5 seater couches with the amp etc between them and then a second row of indoor rocking "banana lounges" very comfy & easy to sleep in.CheersGlen Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/46163-home-theatre/page/3/#findComment-722050 Share on other sites
