I have just secured a t56 out of a tornado with under 10000k, from fly wheel to yoke but I have hurd a rumer that I may still need a tailshaft as it is going in to a former na xr6. Can anyone conferm this ?

Is the NA XR6 auto or manual? Also are both cars BA or BF?

I know when we did my conversion from T5 to T56 the tailshaft didn't need replacing but the front yoke did. Mine is a BA and the box was bought new from Ford to fit a BA. Pretty sure the BA and Bf's have the same tailshaft anyway so provided your car was a manual to begin with you should be ok just replacing the yoke :freak:

yes it was a 03 ba t5 to start with but I was led to belive that the tailshafts on the na6's are differant (thinner) than the t's and 8's

I did it with a few forum members in a day.

the mal wood kit has all you need to do the conversion and they are 4.5k I think it says in his thread. you can use the t5 clutch with the t56, but you may want to upgrade that at the same time so add 1500 for the wog twin plate or ACE option 3.

I was quoted $1200 labour by a dealer to do the conv, but that included the yolk (that is in the Mal Woods kit). you should be able to get change from 1k, or just get a few forum members around to help. that's what I did!!
