XRsixtee Member 16 Member For: 22y 1m Posted 24/06/03 07:52 AM Share Posted 24/06/03 07:52 AM My windscreen seems to have some sort of 'dry' film on it (outside). A bit hard to describe but when you wipe it dry after washing say with a tea towel it actually grips the towel and you find it extremely hard to wipe the towel across. Actually pulls lint off. Have tried Meguairs window cleaner as I am a firm believer in their products, however that makes it easier for that clean but back to square one next clean. Any thoughts? Posted 25/06/03 12:52 AM Share Posted 25/06/03 12:52 AM Try prepsol , sometimes sold as wax remover. If that don't work, try toothpaste, if that's too fine try a 6" angle grinder, should do the trick, won't see much out he windscreen though :D :D Seriously though I had a similar film on my windscreen and you could see the clear spots where production line stickers etc; had been attached. Got the windscreen changed to fix the 'whistling' noise. The second screen was spotless, really 'squeaky' clean when I clean it with Meguires (of course). Guest Mac_Dude Guests Posted 25/06/03 01:20 AM Share Posted 25/06/03 01:20 AM Not from a cleaning perspective, but I have used RAIN-X on my Nissan Patrol & AUII and it is awesome for improving wiper performance & getting the water to 'bead off' other windows.Very highly recommended! Sounds like rail fibre dust from the long rail trip west. Mine had the same thing. got it off with a paint scraper - the type with a razor blade. The bonnet, roof and boot were also covered in the stuff. the dealer had the paintwork buffed and polished to get it of.
