Petrol Smell In Boot And Cabin

I had this issue on my car for about 18 months, it was driving me nuts.

It only happened after a trashing, or on a hot day.

If the aircon was on in recycled mode I couldn't smell it, but if it was on fresh air or I had the window open it would stink.

I managed to replicate it a few times infront of the dealer, but they couldn't find the source after looking at it around 9 times.

From memory the fuel pump, pressure regulator, lines, filter were all replaced with no sucess.

have you tried replacing your fuel cap or carbon canister?

I was told the car didn't have a carbon canister, in any case that's a no.

I fixed it by selling it

I had the same thing after my last service.

After much searching, it turned out the new fuel filter was leaking under pressure only. The leaked petrol casued the smell throughout the car.

It was a simple fix, the new fuel filter was put together properly, but the hose coming off it was not relaly pushed hard on to the filter.

To see if this is your problem, leave your cur running and look at about thepassenger side fron door for any drips of petrol.
